Yes & no; the question may be simple to the poster, but the answer is not as simple.

I use the RSAs made for each and tend not to substitute, whether G17&22gens2&3; G17gen4, G17gen5, G22gen4, G22gen5.

Glock 17 and 22 frames are exactly the same (also G34/G17L,G35,G24 and G31), except for the ejector. Although on my G31 I run 20lb springs on a stainless rod.

I run a Lone Wolf 9 mm conversion bbl. on my Gen 3 G22 sometimes, and I don't change the RSA. I just switch out the bbl. and enjoy saving money every shot. Never had a problem, but I only shoot it a few times a year.

HOWEVER, for me the 17/22 sizes are "toys" not self-defense tools. (I carry a 26 or 30 often, and one or the other is ALWAYS next to my bed.) If I had to count on a full-sized weapon, I'd do a lot of research and testing, and I'd do what you have done: Ask the people of this community.

 

So you, like myself, regard the sub-compacts more as defense tools ( m26, m30 ). My m27 is next to my bed as well. Good to confirm likemindedness of fellow enthusiasts.

 

Yes, the recoil spring for a Glock 22 is the same as the recoil spring for a Glock 17; most Glock models within the same generation use the same recoil spring, allowing for interchangeability between many of their pistol models.

I use a stainless steel for my duty G22 and any of my Glocks I carry. The GlockStore.com has plenty.

It's interchangeable, actually just picked up a 23 so 40 cal and am a huge 19 fan with alot of spare parts was lucky to see I already had rsa's on hand

I got my nick name from my Chief. He was my last Chief of Police I worked for. Great guy, he was like what can I do for my guys, gals too. Just the great guy he was. When ever my Chief would call me into his office, if he said GDoc, I knew it was about guns, but when he said Sergeant, oh Doo Doo I'm thinking walking into his office, which one of my guys screwed up, or was it me. Chief AJ was a great guy to work for. Here's the story.

My Chief on his first Departmental Qualification with his new department and during his Qual he was having several Stove Pipes. I told Chief lock Your wrist and elbow, which my new Chief said okay. As my Chief continued through the course he was still having stove pipes. Again I told my chief, but in a louder voice, to lock his wrist and elbow. My Chief says as he's looking back at me, "I am". I thought oh great i just pissed off my new Chief. The cause of the stove pipes was a chipped extractor on his Glock 22 Gen2, this was the first year Glock came our with the S/W 40. I replaced all the springs, trigger bar, extractor and literally every part except for the frame, barrel, slide, magazine and sights to bring his Glock up to Glock Factory specs. I had offered to buy my Chief's Gen2 Glock as he was talking about buying a Glock 22 Gen3 40, but he said HECK NO, I've got a new Glock now, "Your My GDoc". This is how I got my nick name GDoc.

Being a Blue Knight Tx, with the Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club, my Chief and Deputy Chief got me to join. Chief asked me if I liked my Nick name GDoc, of course I said I Do! Yep that's my Road Name. Anyway that's the story behind GDoc.

I know about the Glocks after attending Glock training courses over the last 24 years. I was a Sig guy until me and my partner attended the basic firearms instructor course. The 3rd day we switched duty guns me his Glock 22 Gen3 and him my Sig. Somewhere around the 2nd or 3rd shot I was in love with the Glock. The last 2 days I finished with my own Glock 22 Gen3 40 I had purchased. I always carry a Glock because I know my Glock will take care of me. Great story, great memories. You recounted the events well, so it made a lasting impression on you. I took my firearms safety courses with my model 27, Gen 4 I've had since about 2013. Being a .40 caliber I had to tame that snappy recoil, not too easy without a lot of disciplined training and practice. But I was determined to keep this 27, so here I am still using it. Thanks again.
