Great range report. The Glock 17 is a great choice.
I got the Advantage Arms .22 Caliber Conversion Unit for mine so my wife and youngest daughter shoots it too.
Great range report. The Glock 17 is a great choice. My first day at the range with my own handgun, the Glock 17. It was a great learning and training experience, from 8 am to 5 pm. This was the USCCA basic hand gun safety training, with class instruction in the morning, and several hours on the outdoor range in the afternoon.
"Teacupping" or "cup and saucer" is FBI 1960. The Hollywood movie nonsense is usually because the Technical Advisor for the shooting scenes is somebody who is a longtime retired LEO usually FBI or a relative of a famous gun person. To get to my point: he grips his pistol a certain way, see below. With his support hand, he grabs his shooting hand from below.
Is there are merit to this grip? Or is it Hollywood movie nonsense?
I'm actually not 100% what exactly it is that they are doing.

reality.
1950s after one hand unsupported and before “cup and saucer”.This used to be a standard hold on 1970’s TV.
Being I didn’t get my start in shooting until the late 1980’s, any of our aged members ever see this touted as a legitimate method?

Very true. John Wick is very good. They train at Taran Tactical InnovationsI’d say a good amount of actors, TV or movies had minimal instruction on gun handling.
It’s been somewhat more recent times that gun handling realism has been emphasized.
That is why Rockford never carried a handgun. No, it was just Hollywood BS. The first thing is the web of his hand is way to low to the gun.
A retired US Bureau of Prisons guy was looking to get some premium Security work. So he was bragging to me and my buddy (we're both retired LEOs) about everything and mentioned he was a .45 Automatic guy but he needs a gunsmith to clean it. My buddy lifts his shirt to show a nickle Series 70, so I lift mine to show a blue Series 80. We asked what you got? And, we'll show you how to disassemble and assemble it. Then he says its at home and we realized he was just blowing smoke and doesn't have a 1911.In 1993 when I went through armed security training, our instructor was a retired US Bureau of Prisons guy.
The Instructor said that we were wrong and we had to shoot FBI crouch!😳
Of course me and the other guy rolled our eyes but we did as he said just so we could get the certificate.
Be safe my friend. One of the reasons I decided to buy a gun ... things are getting pretty wild around here.
