I think the Gen 4 was Glock trying to keep up with the Jones’ when it came to modularity. I thought the back straps wasn’t a good response. I was hoping for something like Magpul MIAD grip, with front and rear inserts that could slide or be pinned in place. That way you would have finger grooves or not on the front strap and the hump or flat on the backstrap. Alas, I wasn’t asked.
Making the grip thicker was not very beneficial and that’s why I think it never was the great leap that differentiated from the Gen3.
I’ve got a number of Gen3 guns and a Gen5. No Gen4. The 5 feels like a better trigger comparing stock to stock.
