No question the G17 is my favorite to shoot. But I own a G19 (son-in-law has a G17 I shoot it some), and I got it because I can carry it if I want to. If I was buying a gun for pure carry and never shot it much at the range, I'd probably get a G26 for that. But, can't see buying one just to have in case because I can carry the G19.
All I've owned have been 19's, 26's, and one 43. Of those, the 43 gets the most use (carry), but my 'favorite' of the three sizes by far is the 19. The bigger ones might be even better, but never owned one; not sure if I've ever even shot one.
weight, grip,Sight radius, accuracy, felt recoil, shooting a full size pistol for me is the hands down winner.having said that, the majority of mine are sub-compact to compact.I want the option to comfortably carry\conceal them.if I had more money to burn,I would also be working on a full size collection.
My 4326191721 fits me best.
Seriously cannot answer that question.I know fit is critical, but once I realized we had joints, knuckles and thumbs, everything started feeling right.
Got a m&p gen2 .45c, my old beretta m9 and 1911, all with large grips imo. The m9 feels the biggest, but is probably my favorite target gun. Worst sights, biggest feel, yet most accurate. Go figure.
For fit the full size w/ medium backstrap. I don’t CC (at least not yet) but if I ever do I’d have to drop down to the compact because at 5’10” 188 lbs. the full size would stick out like a sore thumb on me.
I’m going to vote for the compact size (G19) and “compact slim size” (G43x) for best fit. But I have no issues shooting and carrying the G26, or shooting the G17 or any of the large frames.
If I have to pick one frame size, it would be the compact size.
I only have the G19, so when I carry I do carry it. But, I don't carry it all that much because I'm retired and am not out that much, and lots of places I go where I either can't carry or don't really want to carry.
But, if I was going to carry pretty much all the time, I would have the G26. I have come so close to buying one several times anyway for when I do carry, but just have not gotten up the nerve to try to explain to my wife why I really, really needed it !
If I was starting over from ground zero and know then what I know now, I would have a Glock 17 for fun shooting and the Glock 26 for when I wanted to carry. Love to shoot a Glock 17.
