I was wondering what in your opinion is a great home defense round.And whats your every day carry round and if there the same?

+1 on the Hornady Critical Defense...it's what I carry in my G30SF.

I have also carried Federal Hydra-shoks and Winchester Silvertips...

My preferred for both home & carry is the Federal HST, however, when I can't get it, I use Speer Gold Dot.

Ive heard alot of good stuff about the hornady cd.whats a good average price to expect to pay.And do you know of any good online sites to purchase some?Where i live in cali we only have turners,big 5 and ammo bros the last being the only one to sell non-range ammo but very expensive and about an hour and a halfdrive.

In Pennsylvania, a box of 20 .45acp 185grain FTX goes for around $18.

I just picked up some Federal Hydra-Shok

I'm wanting to pick up some Winchester Ranger Talon 230 gr. for my 21, but for now I'm using Hornady ZobmieMax. It's the same as the Critical Defense, but green and about $3 cheaper for a box of $20. Any other recommendations?

Does everyone keep there defense ammo in its own magazine? and just take out the mag when they go shoot at the range, then just load the magazine back for carry or placed around house/car? Do you keep the magazine full? How long do you keep the defense ammo in the same clip?
