I use Magtech 115gr +P+
Federal Premium. 9mm Luger +P 124 grain HST
I use Winchester pdx1 bonded jhp 230 grains and
Remington golden saber 230 grain jhp
Pdx1 and no other
HST, Golden Sabre, and Hydra-Shok, alternated.
Speer GoldDot 180g
I tested them rounds on critters, shot a few raccoons and not a single one expanded. They were hot rounds for sure but a post shooting slice open showed no expansion at all.
Maybe I got a bad batch of projectiles. But my guess is these rounds are just hollowed point bullets and were not designed to expand, just got the look. I wouldnt trust them at all. Only 115 JHPs I have right now are 9BPLE and S&B POLICE. Both have the same velocity and both make a huge mess on any critter shot with them. The 9BPLE also is one the best police rounds in actual shootings. I would trust either one to work great for me....
Oh i see... Well, these are the cheapest JHP i could find here and was labelled "Sport JHP" so i guess that's why. Have not had the chance to test these rounds yet though but thanks for your field report on this. Much appreciated!
I just bought a box of buffalo bore 147 grain +p i hope they will do good i will post a report on them after shooting some
Sorry 9mm i guess that would have helped huh
I carry .40 S&W Federal 165 gr EFMJ (expanding full metal jacket)
#P40CSP1 in my Glock 22.
Remington Golden Sabre. 40 cal 185 grains
Good video on handgun gunshot wounds from a lecture given by a doctor to a group of medical students.
Good Vid, not what most folks want to hear, but true none the less.
180 grain is easy to deal with in 40 cal. I find for me it has less felt recoil than lighter bullets. Also Blazer 40 cal 180 grain is the ballistic equivalant of Ranger 40 cal 180 grain bonded JHP which is my carry load in my 23C.
In my duty gun I use Winchester 9mm 127 grain T series +P+. Not because I feel it is the best choice but because that is what I'm issued.
If you want alot of good information on the Winchester Ranger line then you can download their LE catalog here...
180 grain federal hydra shok. For my Glock 23 .40cal.
Federal HST 9mm 147 gr.
Federal HST 230gr in my glock 30 and 180gr in my glock 27. Great self defense ammo in my opinion.
I use ranger or black hills p++. This has saved my ass and I will always use. Or I fall back in my reloads but I'm still waiting on case law on reloads to card on a daily
In my glock 29 Winchester silvertips. Read the reviews in a glock article a few years back and have been wowed. In my 23 federal hst. Its also oyr duty ammo at work.
