Some people say they work...others see no reason to switch an OEM part.

I don't own one...and my G30SF works just fine.

I paid $50 for a Tungsten guide Rod for my Glock 22 and I'm not so sure I noticed any difference in recoil or muzzle flip. Wondered if anybody had any thoughts on this topic.
You can expect a 4% less flip with the $50 tungsten guide rod due to its weight. I don't think most people would notice that.

makes a difference in competition use, not some much in training or target shooting.

This^^^. I have one on mine and can tell the difference. But that's also with the Heavy Brass Zev magwell I have that adds 7.9 oz, and the Brass Mag extensions which add another 5 oz. I also use a lighter spring with the guide rod since I have a load customized to the type of competitions I do.

It doesn't make much difference on it's own, it's when you do it with the other mods that the extra weight adds up.
