To port or not to port

porting

Contact Magna-Port or one of the other porting services and ask their opinion. Magna-Port has been doing this stuff for decades so surely
they would have some insight. I checked with them a few years back
about having my G35 barrel ported to match the cut out in the slide.
They quoted me a price of $75.

Porting it more towards the muzzle will not work as good porting it at the cuts in the slide. I bought one of the first G17L pistols without the factory porting and sent the barrel out to magnaport and had them port it pretty far back but not too far back. The difference was huge! I was running 9mm major power factor loads and the magnaporting helped me with decreasing my splits no matter what ammo I was shooting.

From my experience I would recommend farther back to get the full effect. I will also recommend magnaport. They are the originals and no one can beat their work. It's amazing how they know exactly how much to cut out at the right angles to reduce muzzle jump....

Thanks guys. I'll have to look into Magna-port. As stated I know nothing of porting a barrel or where the ports should be.

Lone Wolf makes competition grade already ported barrels. You may want to call them and discuss your options with them. They all shoot their Glocks with the Lone Wolf equipment on board so they can tell you the real life plusses and minuses of the equipment. Good people Too.
