Standardizing on Glock 9mm

I am wanting to standardize on Glock 9mm for my carry and home defense purposes, mainly for the mag compatibility. I have the 19X for home and sometimes carry, but want something just a bit smaller for EDC. I believe my choices are the Glock 26 and the Glock 19. I can get the MOS version for the 19. I can also get the slide milled for a red dot for the 26, at extra expense.

What opinions do you guys have on my idea? Which gun is more shootable? Accurate? Easier to EDC? Better all around gun?

Thanks,
Joe

If I’m out of the house I’ve got a gun on. 99% of the time with just what’s in the mag.
If I think I’m going to a hot spot I’ll carry an extra mag.
My one buddy that used to be a cop in the town next to mine when we were working, says I’m crazy.
He carries a HK VP9 an extra mag and an AR in his truck.
I think the world’s getting crazier but I don’t know if I’m at the point of carrying all that when I’m in civilian mode.

The world is getting crazy, but last I looked, 16 rounds is well armed.

Truth be told I’m sure I could get by fine with the magazine in the pistol as well.

The last time I used my carry pistol for anything besides practice was for a coyote that snuck through the fence.

For some reason I just feel kinda’ nekkid without a spare mag though.

Nothing wrong with that.
At least in the free parts of America.

This subject got mulled over pretty much to nauseum with anecdotes and armchair wisdom on another forum I visit. I like the place, but some folks.
Anyway, round count is one thing, but magazines do malfunction too. Chances of needing the thing are low to none, or I ain't going. All said, I carry a spare 99.9% of the time.
It is rare I just throw one in the holster and go to the gas station for mower gas or lottery tickets, but it happens. Further into town, I have redundancy. Right or wrong.
I used to carry a Colt Officers, a 7 shooter. That has always been 7 more than I have needed. The world is a different place now, even in Podunk, very rural Texas.
YMMV

I LOVE the 26! I shoot them at least as well as a 19 and better than a 17. Once one is used to a pinky dangling grip (and some people are not built to be comfortable with one; God made diverse creatures!) the 26 shoots great and points wonderfully naturally. For me, the hump mates pefectly with the meat of my hand and I don't have movement even with strings of rapid fire. Results and opinions vary. If possible, try before you buy. Good luck!

Here is two cents of meaninglessness for you: I don't know your size/body shape/etc. But maybe consider the 43X for carry purposes. Although only 10 rounds, it is just a bit smaller for carry.
Again, two cents (because it is all I have left after paying my taxes this year)

I’m okay with 9mm and prior to Glocks I carried a Browning High Power. I’m a retired LEO and in Los Angeles we have a lot of shootings so my observations are antidotal. But there is a reason why 45 ACP is legendary and not just WWI and WWII. They have been putting criminals like John Dillinger and others in the ground for decades.

But as an arthritic Senior the Glock 9mm pistols work for me especially in Los Angeles. I have a G17, G19 and a G26, all Gen 3. I usually carry the G19 with an extra magazine.

These are not normal times, so the more the merrier.

I have both (G19 and G26), and I am of the opinion that both serve their purpose. So get both. But if you are only getting one, I would go with the Glock 19.
I love my G45 and G17. I love my G26. The Glock 19 sits well in the middle and it can do everything well.
@Joezilla,
I’m going to say it again. Get both.

Nothing wrong with the 43X. I already have that covered with the 48MOS. I was just wanting thoughts on mag compatibility to make my life a bit easier.

You, 202, are a troublemaker sir!😉 My wife already thinks I have too many guns. I think I can swing one more, but two would have me sleeping on the couch or in the truck.

The places I work, it should be sufficient. I’ve got a shotgun or AR if I think I’m working in a sketchy place.
State of Texas still hasn’t caught up with the times. I’m still barred from carrying a backup gun.
I’m currently only certified to carry a shotgun. I’m trying to get my AR cert on my next mandatory qualification.
That just seems crazy! Especially for Texas.

The G19 is my "if I could only have one" Glock. Fortunately we can have more than one. I find myself with the 43X and a couple of the flush fit Shield arms 15 round mags. No malfunctions to date and a lot of firepower in a compact package. This will not work with your desire to consolidate mags however.

Moved here in 1993. It was something like a 3 day course to get your armed security license. Texas loves their fees and I think they generate half the budget on fees for everything. Some states you can just say you’re a security guard and it’s legal.
Security license is only good for 2 years and you have to be employed at renewal time.
There used to be a Private Security Bureau and they had agents that would spot check guards. Uniform not regulation and you and the company were fined. No pocket ID card = fine. Carrying a second firearm was a loss of license. The state got rid of the PSB but they gave authority to any peace officer to do spot checks on guards.
Meanwhile we have Constitutional Carry and no limit what and how much you carry as a civilian but security is the same rules since the 90’s.

I looked into getting my license for side money. In WA you pretty much have to be employed by an armed security company to get/ afford one. 🫤

LMAO, Texas isn't as wide open and all the forum "experts" proclaim. We are still suffering from post Civil War mandates and mentalities in some cases. Most have gone away, and a lot of things have changed in recent years, but still.
