I have owned a Glock 23 for 7 years. Just last week I picked it up and shot it after every shot the slide was about 10 mm from being full forward. I slammed it shut with my palm every time.
    Any advise?
Dose it need a good cleaning?

sounds like it needs a new spring.

Failure to return to battery would be a good indication that a cleaning is in order. Remember to replace the recoil spring after 3 to 5 thousand rounds too.

The last time you cleaned it; what did you use? It sounds like a friend of mine's gun. He cleaned some guns that were handed down to him with WD-40 and put them up. One of them was a Colt Mustang .380. When we took it out to shoot it the slide would literally return in slow motion. As soon as he told me what he'd used to clean it, I knew exactly what it was. WD-40 is very bad for guns. It gums up. The other gun was a Winchester semi-auto .22. When you pulled the charging lever back on it it would just stay back.
