Now that we are talking about what guns to carry when SHTF. I wonder which ammo would be easier to find.
I think 9mm and .45cal would be the top two.
    What do you think?

    What about rifle ammo?
I think .223, 30-30 and 30-06 would be the top three.
    Any opinions?
    Thanks!

I have a. 308 rifle and it seems Ammo for it is realitively inexpensive and easy to find, I woulsd say 9mm is easiest and cheaoest handgun no doubt!

I would say 9mm and .22 would be everywhere.

223 and 30-06 would be the top two for rifle

in a SHTF scenario, most stores would be closed or ransacked right?
Considering you'd probably be scrounging for ammo from LE or Mil or "downed" civilians, then 9mm and .40 would be my first guess (just conjecture).

Rifle Ammo in the same scenario, i'd say .223 and .308. Probably plenty of 12 guage ammo, as well.

interesting to think through all of the possibilities.

    I almost forgot 12 gauge!!!

I think the most three common rounds would be 9mm, .22 and 12 gauge

  8. I think there would be some difference based on locality among rifle ammo availability (I.e. .270 more common out West, where .30-.30 maybe more common in North East) but I agree .22, 9 MM/.45ACP, and 12 gauge would be universal in US.
