I'm planning on getting a shot timer, but I know I won't use it much. So, I'm thinking a used one might be best if I can find one. I'm also wondering how phone App shot timer's work. Does anyone have experience with the phone App shot timers? What would you recommend?

I have tried several aps and did not find one that worked 100%. I bought a dedicated timer and it has been 100%. Same make and model used by many ranges for competition. Competition Electronics - ProTimer BT

phone apps are not shot timers.

Just a follow up. I tried a phone app and ya, it may be okay for dry fire but I don't think it will do on the range. So I think a dedicated Shoot Timer will be the way to go.

Yup, they don't work at the range.
