How does it work for the dealer? I know you have to ship it to another ffl holder. But what all do you have to do?

This obviously depends on which state you live in. I would recommend contacting a local gun shop, and they will have all the answers to your questions.

I pay my FFL $15 for a transfer and $30 for shipping my handguns.

If you're going to sell over the internet you need to be an FFL or know someone who is an FFL. You have to ship between FFL's. The receiving FFL sends their license info to the shipping FFL.

If you already have an FFL lined up, all you have to do is get the FFL info on the buyers side, record that as usual, and send to the buyer side FFL (USPS allows ground for handguns FFL to FFL, USPS and FedEx requires overnight air for handguns).
