Question...my father just bought a Ruger SP101 model 5720. He was told that he could use 357 or 38 with the gun. Everything that he can find states 357. Does anyone use this gun or know if either the 38 or 357 can be put in the gun? Thanks for any help.

I don't know why you couldn't shoot .38's in it. Is it an older model, some of the early ones were limited on what .357 ammo you could use, but .38's were still okay.

There is no reason you can't shoot 38's in a 357.

Not interchangeable. 38's can be used in a .357, not the other way around.

You can't mess it up, you wouldn't be able to close the cylinder putting a .357 in a .38 gun
