    Admittedly, I'm kind of a newbie. I bought a G17 Gen. 4 in June.

Every time I take the slide off (which was very difficult at first, but pretty easy now), something strange happens. The rear of the recoil spring is very slightly dislodged. It's "up" in that second, curved notch, but at least still in that correct notch. Seems like something pulls it up from the fully seated position slightly.

Then, I'll push it back down to where it should be and reassemble the slide to the frame. I'll then cock it a few times and, also checking that the chamber is empty, pull the trigger. I'll then remove the slide again and the recoil spring is slightly dislodged again.

Perhaps the act of stripping the slide off moves the spring a bit(?). I don't know. Any advice from the seasoned Glock users?

  2. That is totally normal. Does it with every single glock. Nothing to worry about.

Just make sure you put it in the bottom notch when you re-assemble.

Yep...normal Glock stuff, if you think about it...it can't go anywhere when the gun is together, it's surrounded by the frame and polymer rail spots
