Good Afternoon everyone! Me and a buddy both separately built a "Glock 19". We both used the SCT serialized frame and a PSA Dagger slide. Internal parts were different but the slides came with a recoil spring. When he took his out to fire he noticed it would not cycle properly. He ordered a NDZ kit that had a new recoil rod and spring set (15# and 13#). It worked fine only with the 13#. I went ahead and ordered mine just incase. Took it to the range and the factory 18# failed to pick up the next round. The 15# failed to do the same and the 13# worked. This testing was done with both factory blazer, federal hst and some hand loads. All 3 failed until the 13 was put in. Problem with this is I don't like the feel of the recoil it is very sharp and fast. I prefer a heavier slow recoil. Is there anything else we should be looking at? It feels like we are putting a bandaid on the problem. As a side note these do have holosun optics on them and PSA claims that with their dagger there is no issue with their spring on the dagger frame (I do not have one to test). With the current recoil it just is not pleasant to shoot feels like shooting a shorter micro compact.

First go to the intro forum. Then understand you don't have a Glock, but a collection of aftermarket parts, which may, or may not work. Recoil is based on the power floor of ammo. So a fast moving lighter bullet will feel snappier than a heavier slower moving bullet. Lighter recoil springs are used in competition and heavier springs are for preventing unnecessary pounding for high power rounds such as 357SIG or 10mm full house. The most common cycling failure is caused by improper grip regardless of ammo.

What are dagger slides coated with?

All these aftermarket slides need all the crap and overspray cleaned out of the slide cuts.
Over time you may get back to the factory spring with normal wear if you fire enough ammo.

How does it run without optic?

I understand its not a true glock which is why I put it in quotes. The spring seemed to be all that solved the issue but created a new one with altering the way the recoil felt. I will double check my grip this weekend. I do not run into this issue with any of my other handguns so I will pay attention to it on this.

I stripped this slide and deburred anything that looked too rough with tooling marks after my first trip that had the issue. I won't buy another Dagger slide. I did not try without the optic since it came with it I just ran it on there from the get go.

Probably a tolerance stacking issue. I’ve seen a bunch of these guns including my P80 build that are temperamental on initial use but wear in after a fairly short break in. Sometimes break in is longer depending on the parts used. I ran a factory recoil spring assembly and it’s been good to go after a few hiccups. Surprisingly I had a squib with brand new Browning 9mm ammo on the first magazine or two through the gun.
