Can someone help me figure out the pros and cons of regularly open carrying a hand gun?

If you open carry definitely practice your retention skills! Before i moved i carried both ways and with OC you need to watch how you stand,who's around you,and constantly be alert! CC let's you relax a bit!

Why advertise to the world that you carry a gun when you can keep it concealed. I prefer to carry concealed.

When I see a person open carry I always think “why?” It seems like kids mostly. I’m guessing it’s a “hey look at me” thing. Not about it. Never.

The beauty of it is that there is absolutely no eyes on me.

The why for me was easy......comfort! It's not a great reason but it was mine. A large framed handgun just isn't comfortable inside the pants for me. Yes I could carry something smaller,but I didn't get my guns so they could just be range toys and not carried.
I have over 20yrs OCing from my former job so I'm pretty used to doing it
This debate on OC vs CC is a topic that's been gone over alot! I think we all know that CC is the better choice between the 2.

Amen to all IMO very good advice. Open carry is bad tactics. Stats from years ago, most LEO's shot were shot with their own handgun, hence the high security holsters.

By job I’m referring to protecting those who can’t protect themselves. Off the clock.

I absolutely would not be ok with that. I took the thread as open carry being an option.
