Hoping some of you "more experienced" shooters have figured out how to work around the problem.

As my ability to bring the front sight of a handgun into focus started going, I have seen a noticeable loss of accuracy as well. Switched to transition lenses (like bifocals) a while back which helped, but I noticed recently on a laser training device my dept just bought that my poa was off the poi even at close range. I think the lenses are distorting the path of light.

What have you all done to compensate?

You should speak to an optician and see what they recommend. That would be your best bet
