Am wondering if there is a source for old or trashed Glock slides (unusable). I would like to start engraving, but I need something realistic to practice on. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Never seen them advertised. I can't imagine that there are too many out there to be had as the slide are very tough and it would take a lot to render one unusable.

That's kind of what I thought. It would be nice to practice on something as realistic to a Glock slide/finish as possible... Any ideas on that?
No, not really. I would suspect you might be able to find some bar stock that had a similar feel/hardness but I don't really know what is out there that will be easy to get a hold of that would be a suitable practice medium.

I have to image there are some other folks with engraving experience you might have ideas. i have only ever engraved on wood which has its own challenges.

if you just want to doodle it is fine, but you will never be happy with the results if you expect quality. The small "desktop" type cnc machines can be fairly priced, and you can make the money back over time.
