Well, to start off, I just ordered my very first set of night sights. With all the weapons I've owned in the past I have never had night sights or anything else aftermarket besides painting some letters. It was between the Trijicon HD with the yellow ring in the front, or the Truglo TFOs. I didn't care about the price difference. I seen a lot of reviews of the TFOs saying that the tubes fall out, but a little super glue or clear nail polish would help I guess? They look WAY brighter than the Trijicons, so I ordered them.

Now, on to the original question. What do shops charge in your area to install night sights? To slide them in, not knock them in. I know shops will do it for free usually if you buy the sights from them, but I ordered them online. Bass Pro Shops wanted $65, another LGS wanted $40, and the one I'm going to will charge me $10. Huge difference in price.

What do the prices look like in your area?

Does anybody have any experience with the TFOs having any issues? If so, what did you do to fix/prevent it? Any pointers, or ideas to prevent any issues in the future with the tubes falling out??

And did I make a good decision? Or should I return them and go with the Trijicon HDs?

I personally went with the Trijicon HD with orange front. I like the fact that they have a military contract with them and Trijicon is the best of the best (in my opinion) when it comes to sights/optics. I all so like the U shape in the rear sight, it really dose help in picking up on your front sight faster. The selling point for me is the front surface of the rear sight is steeply hooked to assist in emergency one-handed slide operation. You can hook the sight on something and rack the slide one handed.

I have no problem picking up on the three small green dots in pitch black darkness.

Shop around for the HD's cause I got mine for 125 shipped.

I all so got the tool to put them on myself so I don't know about dealer prices but like everything else when it comes to LGS, prices will very a lot. Some will be cheaper then others.

I paid $80 for the tfo so $100 afyer install.
He said $70 if I order from him and he installs for free.

Dang, that is a deal. I ordered them from Walmart.com because I had a gift card to blow lol. I didn't even know that Walmart carried stuff like that. They had the TFOs for 99.99 and the HDs for like 124.99 I think. It was free money essentially so I didn't care what I spent. Can't beat free night sights! A guy here at work says he has a sight pusher, but I hate relying on people that have "everything" (or so they say). And I'm impatient. So as soon as they come in I'm heading up to 417 Guns and tossing them a $10. I'm excited! So I didn't make a terrible decision going with the TFOs? I can't find any info on what their warranty is like...

Just buy yourself the tool as an investment. Front sight tool is about $5. The rear sight tool is about $60 from glockstore.com.
I have onr and i think it's a great investment though. Maybe you can make some money out of it by installing others' for $10.

$70 is a great deal. I paid $70 on a returned set. After opening it up the front screw was missing. Emailed TruGlo and received a screw in a few days. Armorers at the gunshow sell them for $100 on average installed.

I charge $25 to install sights. Not all sights are created equally and some take a lot of fitting. When I spend 30 minutes filing/stoning sights to get them to fit properly the $25 is spot on with my hourly rate. Also, my hourly rate is much cheaper than most gunsmiths.

I picked up the Trijicon GL01 night sights for my Glock 19 today after work (also picked up some self defense ammo). I'll have the bring the slide & sights to them tomorrow or one day after work (or bring the entire gun & sights on my day off).

Got them installed today. Hopefully hit the gun range tonight or tomorrow to try them out. Hope they're aligned correctly. I didn't notice until after I got home & the excitement left, but I think the rear sites are slightly off.

How true is this......I've consistently shot to the left since April with my 17.
Same for my 19 & 23.
I'm very relaxed when shooting and control breathing fine.

I payed $20, and didn't buy the gun or the sights from that shop. I was also quoted $40 from one shop and $59 at another.
Haven't had a chance to shoot with the new sights, I hope they are spot on though.
