Just uploaded a video on the new Mossberg 940 Pro Thunder Ranch edition. This is the latest addition to the Thunder Ranch Mossbergs with the upgraded/updated features!

I had the LGS order one of these for me, and they ordered another one for stock and have sold over a dozen since then!

TLDR for those that would rather read about it than watch the video:

This is my initial thoughts and impressions after putting about 100 rounds of buckshot and slugs through it.

I haven't really seen any videos on this specific model so far, so I wanted to share some of the feature differences vs other Mossberg models and some reasons why you may want this particular shotgun over others.

I was zeroing the optic at the beginning of the video, so that's why you see several single shots at the beginning of the shooting footage.

Quick takeaways:
✅ Ultra-reliable gas system (ran 100% so far)
✅ Oversized controls, Cerakote FDE, M-LOK spots on the handguard
✅ Adjustable stock makes it versatile
❌ No chokes (fixed choke barrel)
❌ No side saddle (despite marketing images)
❌ Some magazine tube inconsistencies (not always 7+1 with all 2¾” loads)

Comparing it to the 930, 940 SPX, and Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol, each has its trade-offs.
Clint Smith’s Thunder Ranch pedigree definitely adds some trust factor, but there are compromises you’ll want to know about before buying. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Here's how to Ghost Load it:

Here's how to do the Select Slug change out, I've seen so many channels say you can't do this with the 930 & 940's:

The 1301 was definitely a consideration, as well as the Ultima Patrol. But for the same price I would have paid for a single 1301 I was able to buy this new Mossberg 940, a used 930 (shown in the Ghost Load video) as well as a used 500. No doubts the B-Link gas system is likely better and I will get one eventually, but for now I'll definitely be having some fun with my 3 new Mossbergs instead, lol.

When it comes to Semi Auto Shot guns? There is but one choice and that's the A5 Browning! Anybody who uses anything else is a uncouth Philistine! 😁 Come to think about it they probably own a 22-250 as well! 🤔 I used to own 3 A5s one in 12 g another in 16 g and the last in 20 g ! I of course own a 220swift and have gotten used to the fact that not only do people throw rose petals at my feet! They kneel on the ground and bowl they're heads to touch the ground as l walk past!

Yeah, I know the feeling. I was in a motorcycle accident a few years back and messed up my left shoulder pretty good, so I too prefer a shorter length of pull. This one is adjustable without having to modify it and I was able to get it to fit me well by removing one plate from the stock. My 930 on the other hand is a bit too long for my liking.

I think the 1301 would likely be really good since the gas system and all of that is not located in the stock, giving you better options, at least IIRC.
