Swedish Security Service Goes Glock
Swedish Security Service Goes Glock

The Swedish Security Service has chosen Glock as a supplier for their duty pistols. This means that the current SIG Sauers will be replaced by various 9mm Glocks. The approved and chosen models are the Glock 17, 19 and the sub-compact 43X, but there are no details as to which generation. The Swedish Police have been testing no less than twelve different pistols, but earlier this year the Swedish Security Service, which is independent of the Police, left the specific evaluation to continue on their own. The result is now official.

Glock 19 Gen 5
The Swedish Security Service (abbreviated SÄPO in Swedish) employs around 1,400 people, mainly out of Stockholm. About 50% of the staff have regular Police training and work with close protection, investigations or surveillance. The Security Department where we can assume most of these Glocks will be found is responsible for protective security and dignitary protection.

Glock 17 Gen 5
So what will the “ordinary” Police force chose and when? According to the article in Polistidningen, the Security Police’s decision does not affect the procurement that is underway at the Police. The procurement is handled by two different authorities and the end result may vary. It may be worth adding that the Swedish Army also uses the Glock 17 (named Pistol 88).

Glock 43X
What do you think about their choice? I am a little surprised that they did not choose a crossover model like the Glock 45(MOS or not) instead of the Glock 17 and 19.
For more information about the Swedish Police and their evaluation please check our previous article from 2019: “The Swedish Police is looking for a new service pistol for 2020“.

Good deal. Perhaps Glock designs a new magazine for the G43X with a few more rounds.

Hopefully it is not too expensive.
I'm gonna guess it's close to rmr prices. I've held off adding a red dot for along time. Last 1 I had was a delta point, but I've been waiting on eotech! Now if glock would release the gen5 10mm's I'll be a happy kid!

AAC Announces Relaunch of Renowned Suppressor Brand

AAC Announces Relaunch of Renowned Suppressor Brand

Advanced Armament Corporation was originally founded in the early 1990s and became one of the leading names in suppressors. In 2009 Remington purchased AAC and the company became one of a number spun off in the 2020dissolution of Remington Outdoor Company. AAC has now announced a major organizational relaunch and restructure while confirming they will service and repair all legacy AAC suppressors.

Following the bankruptcy of Remington Outdoor Company in September 2020, AAC was sold at auction to JJE Capital Holdings, LLC. The deal included both AAC’s intellectual property and brand name.

Here’s Advanced Armament Corporation’s announcement in full:
Advanced Armament Corporation, known as “The Silent Authority” and the pioneering leader in firearm sound suppression since 1994, has just announced a major organizational relaunch and restructure of this trusted suppressor brand. This brand initiative represents a fresh, new chapter for the organization and its loyal consumers, as well as for the advancement of firearm suppressor technology, service, and innovation in the military, law enforcement, and civilian markets.
JJE Capital Holdings, which owns several brands in the shooting and outdoor industries, recently purchased Advanced Armament Corporation with the mission to strengthen the brand and to reaffirm its dedication to customer support while building on its core strengths of producing reliable, premium-performance suppressors for the modern military warfighter, defense professionals, and shooting enthusiasts across the nation. To maintain brand continuity and to ensure forward engineering and customer service under the newly established Advanced Armament Company brand, AAC will be staffed with a deep bench of suppressor industry professionals and AAC alumni, including Senior Program Manager Ben Bachmeier.
“We are fortunate to have acquired the former Advanced Armament Corporation intellectual property and brand name,” said Bachmeier, “this has given us the opportunity to start fresh with people who have been involved with and have been passionate about this brand for a long time, including myself. It is my intention to take care of the people that have, over the years, helped propel the AAC brand to its leading position in the industry.”
With the establishment of the new Advanced Armament Company comes a renewed commitment to quality manufacturing and attention to customer needs. AAC will provide service and repair of all legacy suppressors from the Advanced Armament Corporation brand and provide a new Lifetime Warranty for all new suppressors manufactured under the relaunched Advanced Armament Company brand.
As part of the brand relaunch, AAC will be updating its website in the coming months and standing up a new Customer Service Center at its corporate and operational headquarters in Huntsville, AL.
“The consumer is our main focus,” Bachmeier continued, “whether it is servicing current AAC products already in the field or developing new products based on what our customers need for their specific professional, competitive, or recreational shooting endeavors. And to our existing customers, we want to say that AAC hears you and we are going to do everything we can to take care of you…now and into the future.”

Hodgdon Announces Closure of GOEX Facility

(GOEX)
Hodgdon Powder Company, Inc. the owners of the GOEX and Olde Eynsford black powder brands, have announced that they will shut down their black powder manufacturing arm and close their manufacturing operations in Camp Minden, Louisiana. The news will come as a shock to black powder shooters and reloaders who rely on GOEX and Olde Eynsford products.

(GOEX)
Here’s Hodgdon Powder Company’s announcement in full:
Effective immediately, Hodgdon Powder Company, Inc. has made the decision to cease manufacturing operations at the company’s Camp Minden, Louisiana site while evaluating strategic options for the black powder business.
The business will wind down operations while an evaluation process on the future of the black powder business takes place. Strategic options for the GOEX and Olde Eynsford brands of black powder, along with the manufacturing capabilities, will include a potential sale of the business. All affected employees will be retained through December 31, 2021 to assist in an orderly closing of the site and receive severance commensurate with their years of service to the company.
The Hodgdon Powder Co., Inc has been honored to have been a part of the GOEX Powder legacy and sustains a fond appreciation for sporting customers who have enjoyed shooting GOEX powders.
Hodgdon Powder Company, Inc., established in the late 1940s, are the largest US supplier of smokeless, black powder and black powder substitute propellants controlling a range of brands including Hodgdon, IMR, Ramshot, Accurate, Winchester, Pyrodex, Triple Seven, Blackhorn 209 and GOEX. Speaking with Hodgdon Powder Company they explained that their plan moving forward was to focus on their smokeless and muzzleloader (black powder substitute) offerings.
They do next expect any impact on their other categories or brands as the only location which produced black powder was the Camp Minden factory. The company hopes to sell the factory and GOEX and Olde Eynsford brands to a company which can continue production. Aaron Oelger, Hodgdon’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing said “black powder shooters are a key and valued group of the outdoor community and we would like to see another brand steward take the GOEX brand forward for this segment of shooters.”

RCBS Launches New and Improved Reloading App

RCBS App for iOS and Android Puts More Precision at Shooters’ Fingertips

OROVILLE, Calif. – September 28, 2021 – RCBS®, the leading manufacturer of ammunition reloading equipment for rifles and pistols, is pleased to announce the launch of its new and improved RCBS app, now available to download free for both Apple and Android devices.
The recently released app goes above and beyond with the ability to work across the entire lineup of RCBS Bluetooth-enabled dispensers: MatchMaster, ChargeMaster Supreme and ChargeMaster Link. With the app at a user’s fingertips, calibrating any of these dispensers is a breeze.
Once calibrated, a user can go straight to dispensing, entering in powder information and required dispensation weights. When paired with the MatchMaster, dispensing can be completely customized as well. Each loading session provides intelligent feedback, including notations on over- and under-charges, length of the session, and number of charges thrown, all of which aids the shooter during future loading sessions.
At the range, the RCBS app’s “Load Log” tracks the progress of your reloading / handloading process. Start by creating a firearm profile with make, model, cartridge, round count, rate of twist, scope manufacturer, scope height, free-bore length and any other data that might affect accuracy. Then create a new load profile, entering critical load data such as:
• Bullet manufacturer, model, weight and dimensions
• Powder charge weight and dispenser device information
• Powder manufacturer, type, lot number, production date and date the container was first opened
• Primer manufacturer and type
• Case manufacturer, trim-to length, neck thickness, overall length, annealing temperature and time, total firings per case, and total firings per case between annealings
The app also allows a shooter to enter range conditions including range name, date, temperature, humidity, elevation, barometric pressure, latitude and longitude, and wind (cardinal wind direction, clock wind direction and wind speed). From there it’s all about shooting and recording groups. Users can upload photos – groups, changes to cases post-firing, etc. – for future reference. With the virtual “Reloading Bench,” users can also keep track of all their RCBS products.
“We’re pretty excited about the new app and how complete it is,” said Will Hemeyer, senior product manager for RCBS. “You can use it all or in part. The new app is a perfect way to let shooters wring every benefit they can from their RCBS dispenser and, in turn, help perfect their custom load so that each bullet has unparalleled repeatability.”
The new RCBS app comes with phone and email tech support, so shooters have easy access to assistance at home or in the field. To learn more about the RCBS app or to see the full lineup of Bluetooth-enabled RCBS products, visit RCBS.com.

THIS IS HUGE!!!!
Smith & Wesson to Relocate Headquarters to Tennessee

Smith & Wesson's Springfield, Massachusetts site (Smith & Wesson)
Smith & Wesson have announced that they will be relocating their headquarters to Tennessee in the mid-2020s but will retain operations in Springfield, Massachusetts. The company, founded in the 1850s, has long made Massachusetts its home.

The Springfield facility will keep some of its manufacturing operations including all forging, machining, metal finishing, and assembly of revolvers, with Smith & Wesson confirming that the company will continue to employ over 1,000 employees in Massachusetts. The new site in Maryville, Tennessee will house the company’s headquarters as well as manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding, pistol and long gun assembly, and product distribution.
This means that the company’s distribution operations in Columbia, Missouri will be moved to the new facility in Tennessee, and the Missouri facility will be marketed for sublease. At the same time, Smith & Wesson’s plastic injection molding facility in Deep River, Connecticut, which the company says “services both Smith & Wesson as well as a significant number of external customers, will be sold. The Smith & Wesson portion of the operations will be moved to the new facility in Maryville, Tennessee, however, the external customer business will remain in Connecticut and will be divested.” There is no impact expected to the company’s operations in Houlton, Maine which focuses on making handcuffs, restraints and pistol parts including slides.
Smith & Wesson are expecting to invest $120 million in the project with construction in Maryville beginning this year and completion scheduled by 2023. The company expects that more than 750 jobs will move from Massachusetts to Tennessee.
Smith & Wesson Sees 102% Sales Increase from First Time Gun Buyers
Here is Smith & Wesson’s announcement of the move in full:
Move includes headquarters and significant portion of operations due to changing business climate for firearms manufacturing in Massachusetts
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., September 30, 2021 – Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select: SWBI), one of the nation’s oldest firearms manufacturers, announced today that it is moving its headquarters and significant elements of its operations to Maryville, Tennessee in 2023. Smith & Wesson has been based in Springfield, Massachusetts since the company was incorporated in 1852.
Mark Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer, said “This has been an extremely difficult and emotional decision for us, but after an exhaustive and thorough analysis, for the continued health and strength of our iconic company, we feel that we have been left with no other alternative.” He specifically cited legislation recently proposed in Massachusetts that, if enacted, would prohibit the company from manufacturing certain firearms in the state. “These bills would prevent Smith & Wesson from manufacturing firearms that are legal in almost every state in America and that are safely used by tens of millions of law-abiding citizens every day exercising their Constitutional 2nd Amendment rights, protecting themselves and their families, and enjoying the shooting sports. While we are hopeful that this arbitrary and damaging legislation will be defeated in this session, these products made up over 60% of our revenue last year, and the unfortunate likelihood that such restrictions would be raised again led to a review of the best path forward for Smith & Wesson.”
Smith indicated that the company vetted a number of cities and states and, after careful consideration, made the decision to relocate 750 jobs and its headquarters to Maryville, Tennessee. The key factors in the decision included the following:
  • Support for the 2nd Amendment
  • Business friendly environment
  • Quality of life for employees
  • Cost of living and affordability
  • Access to higher education institutions
  • Availability of qualified labor for its operations and headquarter functions
  • Favorable location for efficiency of distribution
Smith continued, “The strong support we have received from the State of Tennessee and the entire leadership of Blount County throughout this process, combined with the quality of life, outdoor lifestyle, and low cost of living in the Greater Knoxville area has left no doubt that Tennessee is the ideal location for Smith & Wesson’s new headquarters. We would like to specifically thank Governor Lee for his decisive contributions and the entire state legislature for their unwavering support of the 2nd Amendment and for creating a welcoming, business friendly environment.”
Smith & Wesson will also close facilities in Connecticut and Missouri as part of consolidating in Tennessee. This process will result in the company reducing the number of locations it maintains from four to three and will significantly streamline its manufacturing and distribution operations.
The company emphasized that the move will not begin until 2023 and will not have an impact on employees’ jobs until then. “Our loyal employees are the reason for our success and are always our number one priority. We are deeply saddened by the impact that this difficult decision will have on so many of our dedicated employees, but in order to preserve future jobs and for the viability of our business in the long term, we are left with no choice but to relocate these functions to a state that does not propose burdensome restrictions on our company.” Smith said. “We are making this announcement now to ensure that each employee has the time to make the decision that is right for them and their families. We are firmly committed to working on an individual level with each and every one of those who will be affected. We will assist any affected employee who is willing and able to move with financial and logistical relocation assistance. However, we also fully realize that this is simply not feasible for some. Therefore, for any affected employee who cannot move with us, we will offer enhanced severance and job placement services. We understand that this announcement will be very difficult for our employees, and we will do everything we can to assist them during this transition,” Smith said. All employees whose jobs are moved will be given these offers.”
—————————————————————

I’ve been hoping for this since the 1990’s! S&W has caved to the will of local hack politicians for decades. Even though they’re keeping a large part of the traditional business in Massachusetts, the gauntlet has been thrown down and message sent,
“We will not be used as political pawns anymore!”

Now, 🤔 if they can just get rid of that damn Hillary Hole!🙏🏻

Langdon Beretta 92 Drop-In Red Dot Slide
TFB Review: Langdon Beretta 92 Drop-In Red Dot Slide

Beretta owners rejoice! Ernest Langdon at Langdon Tactical has provided a solution to a problem many 92 owners face, namely, proper mounting of optics. For years the solution has been dovetail mounted plates but those faced the problem of sitting far too high above the bore and looking out of place on any handgun. Thankfully Beretta God Ernest Langdon has provided a solution. For years Langdon has been providing upgrades to 92 series pistols and even working with Beretta themselves to make the Elite series of pistols. Langdon’s skill is so legendary that when Wilson Combat decided to start making 92s, they called him to train their staff. So leave it to him to solve one of the Berettas most annoying issues.
One of the main problems with mounting an optic to the 92 was the need to modify internal parts to allow the optic to sit on top without interfering with the mechanics of the pistol. Langdon’s system replaces many of the internal mechanisms of the slide in order to facilitate the mounting of optics. The LTT optics cut mills .140” into the slide necessitating the modifications. Langdon’s team had to re-engineer the inner workings of the pistol modifying the firing pin block, firing pin, safety plunger, extractor pin and decocking lever.

Modified parts
I chose to order the drop-in slide replacement for my LTT elite although you may also send your slide in to be modified. The modifications only work for certain models of 92 so check to make sure you have a compatible slide before sending it in. Thankfully, Langdon makes a handy chart detailing which models are compatible.

Slide compatibility chart
The optic ready slide comes with everything you’ll need except a barrel, recoil spring and guide rod. Installing the slide gave me no problems, the barrel dropped right in and the slide mounted perfectly with no fitment issues. I have put about 5000 rounds through the pistol with the new slide and noticed zero issues with the mounting of the optic between a Trijicon RMR as well as Holosun 507k and 508t. The optics held zero through many one-handed manipulations racking off the optic onto a 2×4 and never loosened or caused damage to the mounting plate. The optics plate comes torqued to the slide and marked for easy reinstallation if you should ever need to remove it – a much appreciated extra touch from them. The instruction manual is clear and precise listing proper torque specs for optics as well as instructions for the 2 screw sets that they provide, one being for Holosun optics and the other for the Trijicon family.

Optics plate markings
The slide ships with black front and rear backup iron sights that sit comfortably in the lower third of an optic. I found them to be unobtrusive and useful. Normally I would prefer a fiber optic front but thankfully, the front sight is replaceable. The dot tracks very well and I found follow-up shots to be extremely easy. Despite the added weight of the optic and mounting plate, I had zero issues with reliability using a variety of ammo.

The slide comes in the G, decocker-only configuration, a choice that I much appreciated as I convert every Beretta I own to a G model to avoid the infamous safety activation issue when racking the slide. The LTT slide also includes front serrations for easier manipulations with the optic mounted.

Slide side view
The slide serrations make manipulating the slide easy despite the lost real estate caused by the optic plate. Running the pistol with the optics-ready slide has made me appreciate the work Langdon and his team must have put into developing this technology. It feels as comfortable as any other red dot capable pistol and quickly became my favorite becoming my new carry optics pistol of choice edging out my P320 and my CZ 75.
LTT offers the drop-in slide in a multitude of colors for the full-size and compact Beretta 92s. Prices start at $572 for the black models and bump to $599 for the colored variations. If you want to send your slide to Langdon for conversion prices start at $352 and at the time of writing are sitting at a 6-10 week lead time.
The conversion includes
  • A full top end rebuild to replace all of your stock components with replacement components
  • Slide milling, and prep for our proprietary RDO plate as well as cerakote on the slide in Elite Black or whatever color it comes in as. IE: M9A3 FDE slides, will be coated in FDE.
  • Our proprietary optic plate in the Trijicon RMR footprint (fits RMR, SRO, Holosun 507C and others that fit the RMR footprint)
  • Red dot height front sight that matches the adaptor plate built in rear sight
  • Return shipping to the same address the slide was shipped from
Grey, FDE, OD Green

LTT slide color options
You can also purchase entire pistols from Langdon with the RDO slide with prices varying depending on the configuration. Options include NP3 coated controls as well as Langdon’s carry bevel option where they round off any sharp edges that may cause concealed carry to be uncomfortable. He also offers the option to install his trigger job from the factory, something I highly recommend.

All in all, Langdon and his team knocked it out of the park with this one me into even more of a fan of the 92 platform and Langdon Tactical Technologies. The addition of a red dot turns what was already one of my favorite pistols into my go-to for anything, be that home defense, competition or range plinking. If you want to pick one up for yourself check out the LTT store.

Deep Concealed Carry: Corvus Defensio UBC-43 Holster

We developed the Corvus Defensio UBC-43 Holster especially for the purpose of deep concealed carry of slim line versions of the Glock pistol series. Despite that there are similar products out there already – primarily for double stack pistols – none of them fulfilled our desires. The wish to carry a Glock 43 deeply concealed, loaded, safe and comfortable on a daily basis and still being able to draw the gun quickly pushed us to develop the UBC-43. The exceptional cooperation with the young Austrian Holster and Gear manufacturer Black Trident gave us the opportunity to transform our ideas into a high quality product.

The holster is primarily made to carry a G43 deeply concealed on the 1 o’clock or 11 o’clock position (appendix) inside the waistband below the belt line. The UBC-43 will also fit a G42, G43X and G48. If there is the special need to even deeply conceal a light/laser module on one of the aforementioned Glock models, the holster also takes the gun with a mounted Streamlight TLR6 (only). The UBC-43 is fully ambidextrous.

Please watch our YouTube video!
Characteristics:
– Deep Concealment IWB APC Holster for Glock 43.
– Optimized for G43 but also fits G43X, G42 and G48.
– Highest possible concealment of the gun.
– Optimized for carrying a shirt tucked in.
– Ideal for all kinds of grip textures (skate board tape, rough stippling, etc.) due to total coverage of the grip by the holster body (no skin contact)
– Fits all kinds of extended mag release and slide stops.
– Fits all magazine extensions.
– Fits all kinds of iron sights (doesn’t fit red dots!)
– Fully ambidextrous (just change clips).
– Optimized for overlapping velcro belts or all kinds of belts with overlapping material to hide the mounting clips.
– Fits Glocks with Streamlight TLR6 light/laser module.
– Handmade by Black Trident out of 2,2 mm Kydex.
– Adjustable draw resistance (best function with least resistance!)
– Full protection of trigger, mag release and slide stop.
– When carrying the gun the muzzle will not point directly to groin when bending the upper body.
– Best comfort for prolonged sedentary occupation.
– Best possible freedom of movement.
– Discreet steel mounting clips for 1.5 inch belts (powder coated).
–Unsuitable for direct mounting on pants without a belt.
– Alternative velcro mounts available separately for overlapping velcro belts.
Application and Warning Message:
– Always be sure of the condition of your firearm and always treat the gun as loaded when you handle it in combination with the UBC-43.
– For safety reasons we strongly recommend to carry the gun with no round in the chamber when you are using the UBC-43. To draw the gun one has to push it out of the holster by touching the muzzle! To carry the gun loaded is at one’s own risk!
– The UBC-43 is a niche product for special needs and special situations. It does not fit every body type!
– Our understanding of deep concealment carry is the priorization of concealing the gun before other features as speed of draw or the use of red dot sights and various weapon mounted lights and lasers. This product is not suitable for customers who prioritize the latter!
– Despite several draw techniques are possible we strongly recommend to push out the gun at the muzzle with the support hand and draw it with the shooting hand!
– We recommend to put thread locker on all screws of the holster (e. g. Loctite 243). Regularly check the status of all screws!
– The holster can be used for G43X, G42 and G48 but it is optimized for G43 models!
– If a TLR6 light/laser model should be used the rubber spacers have to be replaced by the included plastic spacer. Attention: In this case the drawing resistance will be higher and the drawing angle will be different! This will require a slightly changed drawing technique! The UBC-43 is optimized for a G43 without any lights mounted!
– The steel clips are otimized for maximum discreetnes. They will not fix the holster 100% to the belt like a vice. The velcro mounts will only stop the holster from sliding down. Addidtionally the holster is fixed by the clamping force that originates between the body and the belt/pants.

You can choose to feature a solid color, carbon fiber, camouflage, or a specialty print on the front piece. From there, decide which solid color you’d like on the back. Belt loop size is a choice between 1.5″ and 1.75″. There are also options available to accommodate red dots, raised sights, and threaded barrels.
