You can have them you just got to make them look stupid.

Let’s hope St. Benitez comes through!
You can buy AR15s in California but they have to comply with certain restrictions: magazine limited to 10, non-adjustable stock, no threaded barrel, no pistol grip. I don't really understand the "no pistol grip" thing, the AR15s listed below are California legal but they have a thingie that very much looks like a pistol grip to me but maybe I'm just a dumb gun noob.

I was at a gun gun store a few weeks ago to buy ammo and there were two customers before me who were interested in buying an AR15, so one of the shop employees gave them a long rundown of everything that was allowed and the AR15s they had in stock (not many). That was kind of interesting to listen to.

Well they're wrong. This is why people shouldn't rely on the internet.
I contacted the USCCA (I'm a member) and asked them to double check the information they have for Georgia. The USCCA is not just any random internet website, they have a half million members and hold themselves out to be experts in everything related to concealed carry.

Update from USCCA (you are correct, you don't need a permit for concealed carry):

"Good evening Peter,

Thank you for contacting Delta Defense, the service provider of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association.

I'd be more than happy to look into it for you! According to the USCCA Reciprocity Map, it does state Georgia allows constitutional carry. On April 12, 2022, Gov. Brian Kemp signed SB 319 into law, permitting constitutional carry in Georgia. The law will go into effect immediately.
You can find this information here: https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/ccw_reciprocity_map/ga-gun-laws/

So I live in the Constitutional wasteland that is California. I just submitted my CCW application last nite. First available appointment to meet with an investigator is February 14, 2023! Now I live in Riverside County, where our Sheriff is pro 2A all the way. Guess lots of people in this county still want to exercise their rights....
Well, at least you got an appointment! Still waiting for mine, and not holding my breath. Cheers from Alameda County.

Had mine since 2011 Shasta County ( Getting Renewal soon / Finished 4 hour Classroom , Shooting qual is this Saturday should be no more than 3-4 weeks to wrap it all up and be called in to pick up new one
There's a big difference between CA counties how CCW applications are handled, before and after Bruen.

A lot of people from outside of California like to label all of California together as one big liberal State. In reality that is not true at all. Huge difference between say SF Bay Area and rural counties close to the Oregon border.

True but us outsiders see a never ending assault on gun owners out there.
Seems like every legislative session you can expect a handful of new gun control laws.
It’d be nice to have state preemption on carry laws (which sadly would probably screw a lot of y’all). Texas and a bunch of states have a state standard. This is the law these are the rules, your license is recognized throughout the state, no incredibly long wait times, no arduous paper chase, not ridiculously expensive, etc.
Heck, Texas even had a license for indigent people!
We went Constitutional Carry but we still have licenses if you want. I renewed mine to have reciprocity in other states.
Have to say, as a new gun owner the complexity of gun regulation is just mind boggling.

Thought you guys might find this interesting, below is a youtube video from Austria Arms (an Austrian weapons dealer and supplier to law enforcement, military and the general public).

It's in German, for those of you who don't speak German:

  • It's a limited edition of the Glock 17 generation 5 FDE (flat dark earth), with black slide
  • FDE looks similar to the Glock 19 X, but it is different, somewhat darker
  • Only 20 were manufactured, and they have a individual number (this one: 11/20). Separate from the serial number.
  • They are exclusively available to members of the Austrian Jagdkommando, the Austrian special forces (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jagdkommando)
  • The trigger pull was adjusted to 2 kg (4.4 lbs)
  • The magazines are in FDE color as well
  • The front sight is customized: it is made of tritium, which lights up in the dark for targeting the dark
  • Interestingly, the rear sight is the standard U sight not made of tritium, the reason being that having a tritium rear sight would light up in the dark and thus make the carrier of the gun hypothetically visible to the enemy. It's not exactly the same as the civilian rear sight, it is slightly canted.

Nice. I like the FDE/Black combo.
It looks like the FDE color they used before the G19X color. Hopefully it makes its way to the US.
This is a special edition, only for the very elite of the Austrian army.

Not coming to you any time soon.

But aside from the cosmetics, if you look at the specs in detail, technically there are only a few changes from the everyday Glock 17 everyone can buy.

Which is a testament to the versatilty of the Glock 17.

It works for everyone, right out of the box. From Austrian special forces to noobs like me.

Stupid and simple.

Another interesting youtube video by our Austrian friends at Austria Arms, this this about the fully automatic Glock 18.

Fires from 1,100 to 1,300 rounds per minute.

There's a switch on the left which allows you to switch from single round to fully auto.

The parts (slide, barrel) are not interchangeable between the Glock 17 and the Glock 18.

Not available for sale in the United States.

The fact that you think having a stray shot thru your window is not bad, is messed up. In rural America, we don’t have bullets shot thru our windows.
That was my failed attempt at humor.

Seriously, it did freak me out, and I did call the cops, and they showed up.

That was years before I even thought about buying a gun.

Just a bunch of kids firing a gun from probably International Boulevard, and the bullet ended up through my window, and then through the wall in my neighbor apartment. That's what the OPD said. They were probably right.

It's just a demonstration of what is wrong with America: too many idiots and too many guns.

Fyi, this is a terrific documentary about the German Bundeswehr (the army), including tactical training, guns (Hekler & Koch G36 is the standard issue). But they also have the MG5, HK M 27, etc.

If you want you can turn on subtitles (CC) and choose English.

What part of Glock Forum are you misunderstanding?

More of your non Glock stuff will be deleted.
But this is the off-topic section, no?

There's a lot of interesting firearms related information in that video, including specs of the HK guns they are using, artillery, etc. I thought that might be interesting for people who are generally interested in firearms, not just Glocks.
