New Gen 4 G19 range report....

Picked it up brand new yesterday, test fired 4 May 2012 I believe. It has all the new stuff I guess, non 336 ejector, etc. I also have a Gen 3 G19 that had some ejection issues when new, brass to the face and some weak, erratic ejection. I put in a new LWD extractor in the Gen 3, stopped the brass to the face but it still has some erratic and weak ejection. Last round will usually eject weakly vertically or to the left, with some going to the left in each mag.

But on to the Gen 4....I will say, 99% of the ejections go where they are supposed to and it's not weak. Total round count: 342 with no FTF, FTE and one piece of brass did hit me in the face today but no other brass has, 1 out of 342 rounds thus far...certainly acceptable.

150 rounds Speer Lawman 124gr
100 roundsWWB 115gr
50 rounds American Eagle 115gr
42 rounds Speer God Dot 124gr p+

So far, so good, loving this thing :D

Very nice! I love my gen 4s.
Now that's how you break in a Glock... 342 rounds on day 1! Any action photos?

Nope, was all alone for the range time, this time at least. But here are both my G19's :D

Which Gen shoots better to you?
Good question....I have almost 3000 rounds through my Gen 3. The only mod is a stainless steel guide rod with stock spring. The triggers are similar of course but I will say the Gen 4 with no back strap fits my hand slightly better. But at this point, after the range, I still shoot my Gen 3 better..could be due to the SS guide rod as I do believe the recoil is slightly less but that could just be false perception based on the SS rod.
It could be the newer and stiffer spring in the G4 that makes you feel the recoil more ya think?

Absolutely. At this point, if I were to choose one, it would be the Gen 4...mainly due to the issues I had with my Gen 3 when new and it still has erratic and weak ejections, not many but at least 5% of all rounds go where they shouldn't. However, in 3000 rounds, only 3 FTF's, one of which was mostly likely ammo related and one was right after I put the SS rod and new spring in.
Thanks for posting this info. This is exactly what I was looking for. (good timing I guess)

Enjoy the new pistola!
I like the Gen 4 so much that I might replace my late model Gen 3 G17 with a new Gen 4 G17. I will keep my Gen 3 G19 for now.
I have about 5000 rounds through my Gen 4 G19. It did have more recoil then my Gen3 at first. At this point could be just that I have gotten use to it. But, great gun and glad I got it.

Congrats on your purchase.
Love mine too. No FTF or FTE. But the brass to he head once in a while is a *****.
How true. I was wearing a polo shirt at the range and had one go down the front, did not feel good at all. But, not worth fretting over, still live my Glocks, all four if them.
Which ejector is in your gen3 19. My gen3 19s had similar issues untill I took out that 336 ejector

Stock 336 ejector, I swapped out the extractor to an LWD. I don't think the LWD solved the issues for most folks. It solved the brass into my face issue, just not the weak ejection issue.
Good info. Looking into getting a G19 gen4 for my concealed carry (hopefully this weekend).

I would highly advise u to try that ejector u have in the gen4 in the gen3. Totally fixed mine

Really? Maybe I should, can't hurt.
