Hi my names Jimmy I live in Wytheville VA. I recently got my concealed weapons permit so I have been doing a lot of reading on what guns are good for personal protection. Im happy to say i ordered me a glock 23 today. I cant wait to learn all I can about glocks. thanks.

Just stay away from non-jacketted bullets, steel cases (versus brass case), and dirty ammo (not bad, just means you need to clean your baby more often).

Oh, and Jimmy, another thought: nothing wrong with the UMC bulk (yellow box) except it is dirty ammo to fire, or the Winchester white box at Walmart!

So I suppose I should introduce myself. I've been on the forum for a couple months now. Anyways... I'm from the "great" state of VA. I've been a Glock owner since I got out of the Navy in 2004. My first Glock was a gen 1 g17. I sold it to a collector and I kick myself in the butt every day for doing it. Then apparently I had some sort of brain fever because I bought 3 Taurus pistols. Nothing against Taurus, I like my pt1911. So next I bought a g21 and hated it. It was too big for my hands. So I went and got my g23c and have been carrying it since.

Im kinda new to pistols what do you mean by dirty ammo? What brands should I stay away from?

Dirty means alot of unburnt powder gets into the action.

More to clean...still shoots OK.
