Never been able to warm up to the 40cal even though I've given it about 5 tries. Closest I came with a Beretta PX4 Storm in 40cal. The rotating barrel seemed to tame the recoil impulse a bit better but still, nothing to write home about. I swear, my G30 shooting 230gr hardball has less felt recoil then any 40cal I've ever shot, even using the 180gr sub-sonic stuff which doesn't have near the recoil impulse as the 155-165gr stuff.
If I could have a 45acp I'd just drop back and punt and get a 9x19mm, at least ammo is cheap and plentiful. Since I handload though it's pretty much a moot point, 45acp doesn't cost all that much more to load then anything else although it does eat up a bit more lead when I cast bullets for it. Something I'll have to start buying since my free source of wheel weights is no longer available. Anyway, congrats on the 19 and the 23, now ya' need a G30 so you'll have one in each caliber.
