Hey folks, I'm new to this sight and looking for some insight on a Glock 34. I'm interesting in buying one to compete with. Looking for help on getting a gen 3 or gen 4. What's the difference between the 2. Also heard they jam often so can anyone shed some light on that?

I loved my Gen4 G34 and wish I never sold it. I never had a jam with it and shot it in USPSA competition. If you can get one, get a Gen4.

Gen 3 vs Gen 4 is the same as the other models, Back strap, guide rod and other minimal stuff, get which ever feels better. Who ever has one that jams a lot is using junk ammo or limp wristing it. Glocks are one the most reliable gun ever made.

Thanks for all the helpful info ! I do have one more question, hopefully other Glock shooters can help. How well do Glocks do with reloads? I reload to compete with & I use 124gr FMJ, same powder an primers all the time. Will the different brass effect it any?

If your shooting a low PF round the stock spring wont cycle reliable untill its well broken in, I use a 14lb in mine with a 127 pf load. 135 pf cycles fine with the stock spring.

They are not prone to jam. I have had only one FTE and it was with Tul Ammo. Most cases, you will find it was due to limp wristing or bad ammo.

Thanks EvilD, I run my reloads with a 138 power factor so factory spring should be ok. I wouldn't mind getting a softer spring to keep on hand when I get a G34 though.
Do you get parts locally or any good place online?

I get them online, some aren't site advertisers so I don't' want to list them here. One caveat when you start getting into the tigers springs, if you use a stock striker with a light striker spring, you may end up with a lot of light hits. I did, thought it was my reloads with high primers but after double checking them all I still has the problem, put the stock spring back in and problem solved. If you go with a light weight striker, it shouldn't be a problem.
