After much research, viewing YouTube videos, etc, I decided to buy my first Glock, a G23 gen 4. First time to the range today and I was thrilled with its performance.
I used 2 mags of Winchester (white box) 165g and 2 mags of Magtech FMC 180g. Had no FTFs and did most well with the grouping. Found that the Magtechs had much more muzzle flash, and the Wins were great but 2 of the 26 ejected at my face....other than that, as some videos showed, the slide did not latch back (proper term?) after 2of the 4 mags were exhausted.

That's great you enjoyed it. I have heard some of the things about the slide and all, I have a G23 Gen4 and have put well into 15 or 17 hundred rounds through it and not once did it not cycle properly and after about 5 or 6 hundred rounds it quit throwing the cases back at me. Give it some time. You will get to really like it. Mine is my EDC!!
