I had to send my wife's kel tec PF9 in for repair due to multiple issues. It came back worse than before. I am positive it has a bad extractor but they did not change it. So I have to send it back. Three shooters shot it and all had the same failure to extract. We tried two types of ammo as well. Pretty aggrevating. I know this is a low cost pistol but come on it is supposed to be reliable. I bought it due to low cost AND it got a good review in Gun Tests magazine. Not too impressed with the customer service.

My buddy bought his 24 hours before I bought ours and from the same dealer. His is always perfect. No issues. So I may have just gotten a lemon. I am reluctant to say stay away. If they don't make this right...then they suck. lol

I would give Kel Tec a chance and send it back on their dime...

I own 3 Kel Tec PF-9's...one I bought a few years ago...and it's worked great !

The other two were Christmas presents for my wife and daughter...so, I went to the

range to function test them after I did a fluff & buff. One worked flawlessly...the other...

well, not so good. Called KT CS and they sent me a label to mail it back. They fixed the

problem ( multiple FTE's {failure to extract } ...from 5 different mags ) with a new extractor

and now all is well. My wife and daughter practice and now carry the PF-9's all the time...without any doubts.

I am still trying to get Kel-Tec to pay for the shipping back. So far they want me to pay for it and reimburse me up to $35. That won't cover return shipping. I asked for a shipping label. I am still hopeful but getting more annoyed.

I had to send mine back when I first bought it years ago. I can't even remember what the problem was but they fixed it no questions asked...

Once I got it back I ran about 250 rounds through it over about two weeks with zero problems at all. I run about 50 rounds a year through it now and ever since I got it back it's ran flawlessly.

I only carry as back up on occasion. Or if it's summer time and I'm just running a few quick errands I might carry it in a belly band depending on my attire.

BTW that whole situation sounds like a pain in the ass, far from the experience I had. I wonder if things are changing over there?

Sorry to hear of your bad luck with the pistol and more importantly, IMO, bad luck with Customer service.

I had a PF9, never had a problem with it, but decided it was not significantly smaller than a subcompact glock to warrant carrying it instead so I unloaded it.

I have a P3AT that also has never given me any problems.

Well...what's their story line ? Is the gun still under warranty ?

When you sent it back the first time...what did they do to it !?

Anything ?! Was the first return on their dime !?

I bought the pistol in late Sept. 2011. So it is totally under warranty. Since the first time we fired it, it has had issues. (failure to feed, failure to extract) I looked into common issues with the PF9 and people said run a few boxes of ammo through it etc. The problem just kept getting worse. So in Jan 2012 I contacted Kel Tec about the issue. They said to ship it to them. I had to pay to ship it to them in Florida. If you are not a FFL holder it is pricey to ship a handgun. (like $70) So I ship the pistol with all the info and never even get an email that they received it. So I email them. I get an email back that they got it and it takes 4 to 6 weeks to repair. Six weeks later I get an email that it is being returned to me. I get it back. It is WORSE than before. All they did is polish the feed ramp. So I contact them and they say, "sorry, send it back and we will reimburse you up to $35 to ship it to us" So I try to find cheaper shipping... nope it is $70 and up. So I attempt to contact them several times asking for a shipping label so they can bear the cost of the shipping. No replies. I attempt to call. I only get voicemail. I email a few more times, no replies. I call, I get voicemail. I do some more research and they have a known issue with extractors and yet they didn't replace the one on my pistol. The extractor is very obviously bad. (very sloppy, won't hold tension on the shell) This company is not a quality outfit in my opinion. Their customer service is garbage. I will not bash their product since I believe I just got a lemon. However, I could NEVER recommend anyone buy from them. They hardly qualify as standing behind thier product. Maybe this is why many agencies are removing Kel Tec as a authorized back up weapon. Just a thought! Anyways, I am beyond ticked off. I may have to pay a dealer to ship it back to save a few dollars. What a hassle. Stay away from this company!!!

I joined a Kel Tec group to get some help. Yeah, well know issue and Kel Tec is not very helpful.

Update.

Finally got an email from the customer service manager of Kel Tec. They are sending a shipping label to me. I am keeping my fingers crossed they will come through. I am supposed to get an email from UPS soon.

It is amazing how right after I went on the Kel Tec board they decided to come through. Oh and btw, there are some apologist for the company on there. They make EVERY excuse for them. They blame you, the ammo, etc. Geez when there are THAT many folks with the same problem, hmmmm sounds like an issue.
