Been looking for a pocket gun and stumbled upon a PF-9. Liked how it felt compared to others so threw all my research out the window and bought it.

What are your opinions on this gun? Much cheaper than comparable models so is that an indication of poor quality? Can it be trusted to carry one in the chamber?

Don't worry about hurting my feelings, if it was a dumb impulse buy, so be it. I would just like to know how reliable and how safe. Thanks and fire away!!!

I've owned another Keltec .32. Always went bang. I've LEO friends that carry them off duty and as backups with no problems. I got a used PF9 a month ago. I didnt want to wear a cover garment in the 100 degree heat here in Texas. I love the clip and wear it tucked between belt and pants, completely disappears under a Tshirt. The only drawback; not as rust resistant as a Glock. Hit a toothbrush with CLP on it every once in awhile. Make sure you test fire it I have heard people experiencing initial issues. Mine is 100% so far.

Some forum members do not like Keltec. I've seen lemons from a number of manufacturers and I've had my share.

Definitely! It's got a heavy long trigger like most mouse guns. Only it's a 9mm. I wouldn't feel safe carrying a Glock or 1911 that way but they both have a light short trigger pull.

I tried searching Kel Tec before I ever posted, but came up with zero results. Any idea how I can find the previous posts? Any and all feedback is appreciated.

My buddy has a PF9 with zero issues. That is great but unfortunately that is lucky and not the rule. Do a search for PF9 and you will see TONS of issues with them. And thier customer service is horrid. Plus, encouraging folks to mislabel firearm shipment is bordering on criminal. If someone wants to buy from them go ahead. I hope you have good luck.

Also, they have been lying about their KSG shotguns for sometime. They have said they are producing "X" number of units yet no one seems to see them. Ask guns shops about dealings they have had with kel tec. BS company to say the least.

Thank you very much for the info brutusvk. Tough to view onmy phone but I will check it out when I get home. Did you have issues right from the start or did they creep up over time? Thanks

I had issues almost from the start. Sent the gun back twice. Came back WORSE the first time. Got a replacement gun that had issues from day one. The pistol needs to be recalled to fix the numerous issues they have. It was a great gun as far as accuracy and feel. It just was NOT reliable. And I wouldn't trust my life to it.

Many people have lots of issue with this gun. I have one, and I have never had a malfunction, since day one in about seven or eight month. I always carry one in the chamber, spend weeks with out going to the range and when I go I shoot the same bullets that were inside the gun, just for test and no problems. I also like how comfortable it's to carry around compare to other brands. One thing I notice that it's a lil snappy due to the light weight and size for a 9mm. But I can manage the recoil really good, in fact I like it. And to me it's really accurate. Now if I had to pick only one gun to carry and to own I would tell you to choose another one due to the poor reviews makes me feel a lil paranoid sometimes.

We were considering the M&P shield for my wife to carry off duty. Seems like a nice little pistol. She has shot the 33 a lot but thinks the grips is just a little too fat. Who knows. She was real excited when she got the PF9, too bad it didn't work out.

Hey brutusvk, finally got a chance to read your posts. Wow, hope I have better luck. Seems like maybe there are lemons out there and customer service is questionable at best.

Quite a fiasco at the other site. So I can ship it if it is in 3.5 pieces and painted purple and the fedex guy is cool. LOL. Your frustrated, sarcastic post was great though. Your comment about adding parts and for somebody who wants to be part of the design process was hilarious. (too soon?)

Thanks all for the info, will let you know how it goes.

Just got an opportunity to shoot the new Kel Tec. Fired some 115 and 124 gr factory FMJ without any problems. Also shot some Hornaday critical defense and it fired just fine. This gun does not like the reloads I bought at the last gun show, multiple FTE and a couple double feeds. As soon as I want back to factory ammo it ran fine though. Put about 150 rounds through it so far.

Gun is not fun to shoot though. Pretty stiff recoil for a 9mm and grip and trigger were tearing my sissy hands up. Need to keep working with it to "acclimatize" my hands.

All and all not too bad. As long as it continues to run reliably, I'm good with it.

Remember that this lil pistol it's not designed to have blast at the range, I think it's pretty much designed to keep it conceal and comfortable in your pocket and wish never have to use it. I'm glad it ran good for you!
