Took a little drive this morning early to the Indian Creek Conservation Area in the Mark Twain Nat'l Forest, north of Salem, Mo. It's about 100 miles south west of St Louis.

I was very pleasantly surprised. There are about 12 points with concrete shooting tables and swivel seats that accommodate LH shooters like me.

I believe you can shoot out to 200 yds but the 25 yd range was sufficient for my needs.

It's maintained every Monday, has decent target stands, nice berms between lanes, and is also Handicap accessible for wheel chaired shooters.

There was absolutely NO ONE else for miles and I had a great time zeroing my 40 year old Remington 552 Speedmaster. If I had a $40 scope instead of a $20 scope I'd be very dangerous. :).

No restrictions, except no shotguns. So, if one were inclined, one could shoot some drills w handgun at 4-7 yds.

Anyway, it's always nice to have another place to shoot. And the price is right, free.

Hope this helps someone else find a new place to shoot.

You're a LONG way from this range. But I'll do a little searching.

MO Dept of Conservation has unmanned ranges like this all over the southern part of the state and the National Forest.

Hey blackwolff, search "Missouri dept of Conservation unmanned ranges. They've got a list by county and I'm no expert on which county is which in West MO. Guarantee you'll find several between KC and Branson. I found one in Taney County, Branson area, but it's archery only.

I am actually heading over there to run a couple NSSP competitions for a group called Royal Rangers.
