hybrid holster question

Im curious if any of you guys that make the iwb hybrid holsters (kydex and leather) have ever tried to design one with a mag holder built in to it. Is this even possible? Think it would make it uncomfortable to wear? Thanks

Not necessarily uncomfortable, but more impractical. Think about being in a gun fight and needing to change mags. Spare mags should be on opposite side.

Bingo! The gun side is definitely not a good place for spare mags. The holster wouldn't be a big deal to make, but I would consider that method of carry to be a no-go concept unless there were NO alternative.
Magazines attached to your holster is a bad idea. That being said, magazines on your weapon side does work. I carry my spare mags at 1 o'clock, so it is on my weapon side. I have no problem retrieving mags and the exchange is smooth and consistent
Never thought of it that way, I'm not law enforcement and hate having a bunch of extra stuff hanging off of my belt was my reason for asking. Thanks for the replies
The only way I see this working good is for cross draw. I did make one for a friend with a mag holder for strong side carry but he uses it for 4 wheeling only and caries 3 extra mags with him, 2 weak side and 1 strong side. I have also made hybrid mag holders.

I typically consider anything from 11-1 o'clock to be centerline, but you're right, 1 o'clock wouldn't be bad at all. I wouldn't go any further than that though. I wear my spare(s) between 10-11.
Ive seen a lot of guys carrying mags at 10 or 11.....it all works just depends on what your comfortable with:)
I am not in law enforcement but I can see same side. As far as tactical if you have unloaded that many rounds, or have a jam and need a new magazine, and haven't made it to cover. The little time it would take to get a magazine from anywhere off your waist your in deep trouble anyway. Also devils advocate what if your other arm is out of operation? Dump magazine reholster grab strong side magazine reload while holstered redraw and back at it :)
I have made a hybrid holster for glock 9mm that has an extra mag holster on it. When worn in the right position, you can draw the mag with the weak hand. You can check them out on Facebook at TW Holsters.
