Hi all, just signed up to this forum, on the chance of learning new things, safety, products, and a friendly community. Moved to Florida last year from England as wife is American (and our now son) and very happy to be here, it's reassuring to know that here I have the right to defend myself and family without being labelled or tarnished a bad person for owning firearms. Being ex British law enforcement I'm well aware and disgusted about the minds of British government making the country so intolerant to anything other than a slave, the country has huge problems as do alot of places but I'm glad I got away when I did.

Glad to be here!

Currently in the uk firearms are totally illegal unless you are police in which case your gun is left at work and not allowed home with you, saying that not all police even carry guns, I'm from a county called Dorset on the south coast and I'd say in every 150 officers maybe 6 are armed. Usually with a glock 17 and a h&k mp5 they are also now looking at the g36 assault rifles which some English armed response officers carry. Even then when an officer armed (arv) is on a patrol to even take his weapon from holster he has to have a green light from a higher officer haha it's terrible!! Can I add the only police officers that carry tazer guns are the armed ones lol! Don't get me wrong there are some gun clubs that have pistol shooting but I've never known one person able to take them home etc. to even buy a shotgun you need a bloody good excuse, certainly wouldn't be allowed one of you told a gun shop it was for home defense.

I own a glock 19 9mm, the reason for this was the reliability of glock and soon to be doing my armed security licence and that required 9mm :) thanks for the warm welcome

Welcome to the Forum Ben! This is a great community. Thank you for the info on gun ownership in England. We recently had a colleague from Germany stay with us for a few days and he said pretty much the same thing. I give thanks everyday that our Founders had the fore site to include the 2nd Amendment in our Bill of Rights.

Hello, BenRomeo, and WELCOME to the Forum!

And also: WELCOME TO FREEDOM!

I, too, came from a country with draconian gun rules (the Philippines), and was so surprised when I bought my first handgun at a Long's Drug Store....walked in to buy coffee and creamer and paper towels, walked out with a brand new handgun and 300 rounds of ammo in less than 30 minutes (yeah, I was shopping, too).

Cheers!
