Got my FFL type 3 today

Skip the Type 1 and get a Type 7. It gives you more options, like if you want to build ARs & such to sell. Personally, I wouldn't waste time or money with a 1 or a 3 when you can do it all with a 7. If you have absolutely no interest in ever building, then a Type 1 is all you need.

 

Type 7 is manufacturer only, not dealer or collector.

 

With a 7, you can manufacture and sell. You do not need multiple types. If you have a Type 1, you don't need a 3, if you have a Type 7, you don't need a 1 or a 3.

Type 7 Title 1 manufacturer of firearms and ammunition, who may also act as dealer; may not manufacture or deal in destructive devices, ammunition for destructive devices, or armor piercing ammunition.

Jon's correct you only need a type 7.

 

It's cheaper too... Maybe I'll get that one...

 

That's very fast actually. I mailed both to my local LEO office & BATFE my app yesterday. The captain actually called me in person to tell me he received my paperwork. I guess wheels are in motion. I have my eyes on some Type 53s and Mausers. Let's see how fast mine comes
