In my opinion....if it was for personal carry with the sole purpose of self defense,I would go with a glock.It's more compact and will carry more rounds.'Not really a big fan of the thumb safety thing(1911)...if I had to pull it out,it would probably be because I'm ready to discharge.No split second wasted fiddling with the safety.Don't get me wrong,I have a 1911 too and love it too.It's just not my carry choice for the reason I have stated.I'm pretty sure that if you give it a hundred years,Glocks too,will have the same tested and proven reliability that the 1911's do.
