Never, may interfear with the function of the slide.

Just change out the recoil spring assembly every three to five thousand rounds and you should be fine.

What G-23 said, they are basically a solution looking for a problem. Ones I have seen used make limp wristing issues much worse, get torn up and case malfunctions with hard use, or just don't really make much difference.

Interesting, Im glad this was posted becaus eI was looking at one for my 27 last night.
