I purchased my first glock, a G30 Gen4 .45 ACP and it fires factory ball ammo just fine. I tried H & G 68 200 grain semi wadcutters with www.231 power and it jammed on several. It failed to extract 4 fired cases from the barrel, some failures to feed.

I sent it back to Glock in Georgia and they changed the slide and sent it back. It now feeds good but it has failed to extract 5 fired cases in once fired brass in 25 rounds. I have cleaned it thoroughly and checked the extractor but everything seems good! The same reloads fire flawlessly in my Colt Gold Cup.

Has anyone else had this problem. I very disappointed in the pistol.

Yes, The 68 H & G mould is a 200 grain semi wad cutter cast Lead. It feeds them okay but the problem is the extractor has failed to extract the fired case from the barrel chamber. This has happened with 230 round nose lead bullets and once fired Remington brass. I have micked the bullets and cases and they match Remington's 230 grain full metal jacket factory ammo which functions just fine in the gun! Any Ideas. The extractor is the problem and I hate to send it back to the factory again. Thanks

Yes, The 68 H & G mould is a 200 grain semi wad cutter cast Lead. It feeds them okay but the problem is the extractor has failed to extract the fired case from the barrel chamber. This has happened with 230 round nose lead bullets and once fired Remington brass. I think if it were mine I would source a replacement extractor for it ,had a similar problem in a G 22,replaced the extractor, spring and bearing and that was the end of it's failure to extract problems.

If the gun shoots factory 230 FMJ's reliably then the gun is doing what it's supposed to do. Also, doesn't Glock advise against shooting lead out of it's polygonal rifled guns? That said, what powder charge are you using and with the semi-wadcutters, what's the overall length? That your reloads function in your 1911 doesn't mean much since the G30 is a totally different gun design.

The Semi Wadcutters are 200 Grain and loaded with 5.7 Grains of Winchester 231 power and Winchester primers. The overall length is is 1.258.

I am surprised that the Glock is ammo sensitive. I hate to shoot factory ammo all the time in it. Thanks

Ok, like SixG17s mentioned the plunk test is important. I load 200 grain Missouri Bullet semi wad cutters to 1.24” but I use a different powder, not that it matters. These loads I run in my XDM and not in my Glock because, again, Glock does not advocate running lead bullets in their guns. Also, according to the loading data, your 5.7 grains of 231 is slightly above the recommended max of 5.6 grains which I doubt is a big factor.

Maybe load up 50 rounds at 5.3 grains at 1.24” and see how they do. I’ve found Glocks to be very forgiving with regard to ammo and will shoot anything as long as it’s the correct caliber.

So, if you insist on running lead through your Glock and a rip in the space-time continuum opens up, we’re gonna know who did it.

Thanks to all, I really appreciate your advice. If the weather ever warms up here in Southern Ohio, I'm going to shoot in some more and try to determine what is going on. I've shot about 150 rounds through it so far have experienced hiccups every time!!!!!! I thought that Glock was jam proof and I was not aware that they do not advocate using lead bullets or I would not have bought it. Maybe, I'll get it solved. Thanks very much!

Only reason for failure to extract is the load is not hot enough, and/or wrong grip. You say it runs on 230 gr factory, so it's not a gun problem. Juice up your load, try a few, and use the right grip.

You can put a non oem barrel in that will take care of the polygonal rifling in the oem barrel.

You can run cast lead in Glock OEM barrels, but you have to pay attention to cleaning. Usually every 100 rounds with a brass brush. If you only run lead, you are better off to get a SS barrel, which can be easily cleaned with the old Bullseye lead cocktail of 50/50 white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Dissolves the lead in a few minutes. But bullet shape, not material, is what can give chambering issues. I used to run Laser Cast 200 gr SWC's in my G21's and G30 years ago, and never had a feeding issue.

This sounds like another user's-handloaded/custom-loaded-ammo-doesn't-work-with-my-gun problem. Either adjust your G30gen4 to work with that ammo or adjust one's ammo recipe to work in the G30gen4.

I don't recommend making changes to the G30gen4 at this time as there may not be a lighter recoil spring available to function with that ammo, but there could be some combination of aftermarket recoil spring and guide-rod which might work. Let us know should you or anybody find this combo. Try the Wolff 50915 guide rod and reduced 15 pound spring kit, which is 2 pounds less than the stock 17 pounds apparently:

Another option is to try another .45ACP gun, of any brand & model, if you want something in addition to the Gold Cup 1911. Keep buying various handguns until you find a gun which reliably works with one's specific hand-loaded ammo AT THE LOW WINTER TEMPS desired.
