Going to be buying a new pistol next week and i am stuck between these two. I am a current leo but this gun will not be used for work or off duty carry. Have a 23 and 27 for that. My main purpose is for a 9mm that the wife will shoot and not flinch with. Just wondering if the 34 is worth the extra money. I may start shooting matches so I am leaning towards the 34 but again gotta justify the extra $95.

What competition/league? 34 is only legal for the 'competition' and 'master unlimited'.

The 17L is also out for normal classes.

The 17L is actually longer than the 34.

When looming to compete, check the equipment rules, unless it's unlimited, there will be barrel length restrictions.

Great choice, although you could not have gone wrong with the 34. I have the 34 and use it for GSSF matches only. If I did not have other Glocks for carry and SD, I would have gone with the 17. Enjoy it!
