And the members here are always awesome and I"ve seldom seen any that are condencending or rude. Unlike other sites I've seen where if you ask a question most reponses will be to search before you post with snide comments to follow.

I'm really interested in the 30 models and will likely get a gen 4 G30s when they come out. I always go to Glock's site to look at the differences.

Thanks for the info, glad to know there are kind, knowledgable folks on here.

Thanks! I had the same ? as RockYourGlock. I am considering trading up from my LC9 to a 30 as my carry pistol. I am still a bit confused on the S and GS vs the Gen 4. It sounds like the S and GS are smaller and, therefore, better to catty. However, I am looking at the Glock website and it is hard to see much difference when I look at the measurements. On the site, the width of all 3 is 32.5 mm. The gen 4 is actually the shorter of the 3 at 172 mm (vs 177 for the S and 175 GS). All show 122 mm in height. Unless someone has some additional info that will help me make a better call, I am probably going to get a gen 4 and call it good! Thanks again!

Actually, there are 4 back strap options shipped with g30 gen 4. You will have the stock molded grip (permanent); one slightly thicker short backstrap; another even thicker short backstrap; a slightly thicker beavertail and an even thicker beavertail. I have a large hand (not xl) and like the thinner additional short back strap. Beavertails increase overall length, thus might be an issue for carry. Love my G30 gen4. Great recoil dampening, very accurate. Only slightly thicker than the comparable Springfield armory piece with several additional rounds. /J.

Gen.4 models usually go for a little more. All gen.4 models have 3 changeable back straps. First back strap is thinner than regular Glock grip, second is like regular Glock grip, and third is more like a Sig grip. Also all gen.4 models have dual recoil spring assemblies. The gen.3 30 also has a DRSA, as do all subcompact gen.3 models. Also Gen.4 has a larger mag release that can be switched to the right side or left side of the gun. Lastly the grip texture is different then Gen.3. If I had to choose out of the 30 models, in order the 30S, 30sf, 30 Gen.4, and last the regular Gen.3 30. If you like the texture of the gen.4 Glocks, the 30 Gen.4 is probably your best bet.

Picture shows the lower half of Gen.1, 2, 3, RTF2, and 4th generation Glocks.
