You are on a Glock forum asking which one?? I shoot well with both but with a 500 buck cheaper price tag on the Glock, how can you beat it?? I know the 1911 is a great platform and would love to own one. But I know I will have a Glock 21 long before I will buy a 1911.

Since I only have a glock 21 and haven't shot a 1911 I can only go by the reviews I have read. An they say that if your looking for a really good 1911 expect to spend 1,000 plus but if you are looking at a 1911 for around the same price as a glock, the glock will be the better choice for the money. The glock 21 is not a bad firearm what so ever, I really like mine.

I would love a Wilson Combat 1911 but that's to much IMO for a hand gun. :)

I have both...both are hi-cap guns too. The G21 is MUCH easier to carry CCW but the Para P14 is pure point-n-shoot. Toss up which one has the edge but the G21 always seems to find itself in my truck unless Im going to a IDPA match!

Depends on the 1911, which fits your hand better, which makes you happy. Really like apples or oranges, they are both fruit but not the same.

I have a Kimber 1911 Custom II and I love it. While not really comparable I have G30 and though it is compact I love it as well. The Kimber is very accurate and has a good feel. I am getting a customized G21 with V ports in march and have heard of a lot of people who love their G21. For the price the Glock is better as you can do a ton of customizations for about the price I paid for the Kimber, but like Levelcross said Apples and Oranges. I'm glad I have both.

They are very different guns for sure. As much as I like Glocks, I am a huge fan of the 1911 platform. My daily carry weapon is a Kimber CDP II Custom (5" full size). The ergonomics of the 1911 and the short and crisp single action trigger really make a big difference to me.

If you are considering a 1911, you need to be ready to spend serious money. They truly are one of those things in life where you get what you pay for, especially if you plan to trust it with your life. If budget is a concern, Glock is definately the way to go. They have a proven track record for reliability and you simply can not go wrong with them. If you can only choose one and are looking the best value, the Glock wins hands down everytime.

To add to this, which I agree with, is the fact that when I went to Front Sight all I saw were Glocks and 1911s, and a few odd other weapons. 1911s that are quality cost a lot but will be your loyal friend. Glocks are cheaper and are reliable as well. The feel is different and the lack of safetys on the Glock deters some people but both are awesome weapons systems.
