Saturday is the big day! I get my first Glock. I've been back and forth between the G23 and the G19. I would really like to have the 23 but I'm starting to lean towards the 19 due to ammo prices.

What would your first Glock be?

Holy Christ you got a steal on that Sniper! I also agree with getting the G23 and pick up the Lone wolf 40-9 barrel conversion for $100 and some G19 mags for about $20ea. If you dont really care if you have a 9mm or .40S&W then get either one both are effective rounds. I personally will stick with my .40S&W rounds because for me it is much easier to find ammo over 9mm ammo. If any store has a deal on 9mm you have to wait at the door like its black Friday to get any, if you don't you will be SOL for about 2 weeks. That is unless you don't mind going to Gander mountain and paying twice the price for the same ammo.
The ammo situation is exactly the opposite here. It's difficult to find .40 ammo around here but there's plenty of 9mm. Plus there's the downside that .40 ammo is about $5 more than 9mm on a box of 50.

I have given thought to the conversion kit before. I am open to that idea. It's like 2 guns in one.

There are no stores that sell handguns anywhere near me. So I am going to be making about a 90 minute trip (one way) to get my gun. I get a law enforcement discount and the store only keeps a select amount of LE guns so since I'm open to either gun, the choice may be made for me if they only have one or the other.

From what I've seen of the 30, I have 2 issues with it:
1. It's a .45 and this is not just my first Glock, it's my first gun. Part of my reason for considering the 19 over the 23 is ammo prices. I want to be able to afford to go shoot it.
2. From what I can tell from pics I've seen, it appears to have the same grip as the 26 (correct me if I'm wrong) which I am not a fan of. I want a regular size grip. Maybe as a second gun I'd be more open to a compact gun but right now I'm looking for something that can do it all.

I mean no disrespect to any of you who chose the 30, this is just my opinion.

My plan right now is to get the 19 or if it's not available I'll settle for the 23. I like both so that's not a big issue. Later down the road I may get a 26 or 27, but that just depends on how comfortable I am cc the 19/23. I've heard a lot of guys say the can cc either just fine. I'd also like to get a Ruger SR22 sometime just for cheap fun at the range.

It is a subcompact though right? I've fired the 23 before and i really like the grip on it. The 19 and 23 are the same gun outside of caliber right? I was assuming they were the same because their dimensions were very similar (if not identical) on Glock's website.

Like I said before, I've fired the 23 and I like the grip on it so I know I'm comfortable with it. So I should be comfortable with the 19 as well.

Unfortunately I just got hit with a short paycheck and a huge utility bill at the same time so I'm not going to be able to get my gun saturday like I planned. :( I guess the bright side is it will give me more time to research and make sure I know exactly what I want, although I'm already pretty set on the 19 or 23.
