Keep in mind the 19 is NOT a full size grip. Its a compact. That being said it was my first Glock and I don't regret it and I love it so. Also the 23 is going to have a hell of a kick in comparison. I also own a 30 and I think the 19 will serve you just right as your first pistol. Either way, 19 or 23, you aren't making a bad choice

Ya both are the same frame and size, but they are compacts. Glock's tend to have a different sizing then what Ive seen. Full > Compact > Subcompact. What most people call compact Glock calls a sub compact. the 17 and 22 are the full sized versions. If you aren't looking to conceal carry look at 4 guns, 17/19 and 22/23 that way you can figure out which feels best for you. This is just my opinion though. Like I said the 19/23 are both amazing weapons. I conceal carry my 19 and don't have any issues with it.
