I just got a used one the other day, and with 10 rounds in the mag it is damn near impossible to rack the first round. Ive fired my friends 21 and no issues there, and my 19 racks as easy on the 1rst round as it does the 15th, any suggestions?

I love my G30. I have noticed it too but I think that it becomes easier as the springs lose tension. I find that the easiest way is the hand cupped over the top of the slide to rack it back rather than using thumb and fingers only. Hope this helps.

Alot of people have this problem with the g30, Its the mags. Another thing you can do is leave your mags loaded it will loosen the stiffness of the spring in your mag.

Ok figured thats what it was, I bought it used so thats why i was wondering why the mags would be the problem, but I guess I have no clue how old the mags are.

I've just been loading one bullet from a "barney" mag and then inserting a regular magazine filled with 9.

I've tried it with 10 in the mag but it's just not that "dependable" in that condition so I go to the 9+1 configuration.

AD (love the G30 as my daily carry gun though)

FWIW, when I first got my G30 (BNIB), it was exactly the same way.

To rack the slide I found it easier to grip the slide as Series11 describes, but instead of pulling back on the slide, I would push forward on the frame. Worked well.

Eventually, the springs loosened up properly, and the gun was properly broken in, so no more issues.

I'm keeping the mags loaded to soften the springs, took it to the range today and ran 50 ends through, and 181 through the 19 :D, and it fired like a freakin' champ. Its fun going from a 9 to a .45 then back again. The 9 felt like a .22 after a few mags of the .45.

I carry my G30 with a G21 13rnd mag with a mag sleeve... It's great, I keep my G30 ten round mags in glove box fully loaded... Maybe thats why I haven't had any issue with the 10 round mags, cause the springs have been "softened" up?

Probably. They had no history on this gun when I bought it. Its 7 years old almost exactly, and its got some use, but for 7 years old its clean and even the few scratches aren't bad. The mags are a bit worn which tells me they aren't new, but maybe they guy didn't keep them loaded or something. I'm going to a Glock Armorer soon to get my G34 so I'll have them take a look at it.
