I've been working with my gen4 and it stopped chambering rounds from any clip. Not sure how I fixed it but I cleared the mags of rounds, loaded in some snap caps and all the mags started working again.

It was weird. When I saw it would rack one I ejected the clip and the slide was stuck. The slide release wouldnt release it, it just snapped back on its own. To be more clear a bullet never entered the chamber, it almost looked like it was stuck releasing the bullet.

Right now it's cycling fine so I'm guessing something got stuck. This was after a field strip. I restripped it and put it back together and that didn't fix it. No clue but like I said its cycling fine now.

I would take it apart and clean it. Pop the slide, push the pins out, gut it clean it and put it back together.

THanks for the tip, I found a spot in the slide where it slides against the frame that had some brown residue. I've only cleaned the gun once since I haven't had it but a week today lol. But it seems to be cycling like butter now.

Hoppe's No. 9 solvent and Hoppe's Elite gun oil (Superior Lubrication & Corrosion Protection) is what I have right now. What's CLP?

CLP is all you will ever need, it cleans, lubricates and preserves. That stuff will last you a good while too. I tossed the hoppes#9 and cleaning kit and only use CLP, bore snake, qtips, and some rags. Quick easy and efficient.

This a new gun? The brown (hopefully copper colored?) residue is the factory lubricant applied at the time of assembly.

I agree with the others, clean it, Hoppes for the barrel, CLP for everything else and put it back together.

Yes, bought it a week ago today. Only shot 10 rounds through it so far. I can't get to the range for a while so I got antsy and started learning to field strip it, clean it maintain it etc. I thought the brown residue might have been just left over from shooting it.

Luckily if Denver doesn't shut down from the snow I'll be at the range shooting on Sunday. Plan to put it through its paces.

CLP is cheap also, I get mine at Walmart.

I agree try CLP, I use it as a general oil & cleaner except for the connector I use the tiniest bit of white lithium grease.

CLP is great stuff, I believe it's all the Marine Corps used for a long time, not sure if they still do?

Wal-Mart in my area generally carries it.

I'm pretty sure the MC still does. It was developed simply to work, it's even in the name. CLP = Clean, Lubricate, Protect.
