    I was also a reserve PO for one year prior to going full time for 25 years. It was a great way to test the water before jumping in! Welcome to all who have served!

    I also started my law enforcement career as a Reserve Officer. I agree with Havasu, that is a great way to see if this is for you. Also, when working assigned to background investigations, I liked seeing a motivated reserve officer that I have seen for a year or two. Kinda like probation, with a better chance of an easier probation when going full-time. It gives the department, background investigators, admin, a chance to see you, motivation, ethics, moral character, etc before actually hiring the officer. I am a fan of a good reserve officer program! And many of us if asked, had started out as a reserve officer...

    I am active duty Marine have been for 15 years now. I am an 0369 and for those not familiar with the Marines MOS that is Infantry. I have served with the following units in order:
    2nd Battalion 8th Marines Golf 95-99
    1st Battalion 8th Marines Charlie 99-04
    School of Infantry East 04-07
    3rd Battalion 8th Marines 07-09
    MCB Quantico TECOM current

    USS McCloy (DE-1038) Homeport, Newport, RI. Usually deployed as part of the USS Intrepid's Hunter Killer ASW group. As soon as the Fighting "I" got spotted by a trawler, Ivan's subs would clear out of the neighborhood.
