Around here new gen 4 is about 550, that maybe msrp but not positive, lightly used around here 450ish

You might look into a local range/gun store where you can rent one to shoot, & get a little friendly instruction at the same time. It really is the best way to experience options, & see what is out there, how it shoots, etc.

The Glock 23 is a compact .40 S&W. Each model number is a different size and caliber. Go to the Glock website to see the list of all the models and calibers.

Welcome to the forum. I'm from the philly area myself. Most local gun stores have the glock 23 at around $600; some for more, some for less.

If you want to try one out, head to French Creek outfitters in Phoenixville. Good customer service and they have several glock rentals to try before you buy.

Yes it is. There are several companies that make conversion barrels for the G23.
I have a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel that allows me to shoot 9mm out of the same platform I carry for defense.
You can drop in a factory .357 SIG barrel as well or grab one from LWD or KKM or Storm Lake.

The advantage of the aftermarket barrels is the better chamber support and the ability to shoot "plain lead" bullets as opposed to the jacket rounds (FMJ) required by Glock. It has to do with the unique rifling inside the GLock barrel.
