Dumb question ?

What are the easiest ways to identify your Glock, as far as Gen 1,2,3, or 4
My model 26 did not come with extra back straps etc etc, so I'm assuming it's not a Gen 4.
Just curious of how to tell.
Thanks guys

How many pins are above the trigger?
Does it have finger grooves?
Gen 4 will say gen 4 on the slide. And "mbs" on side of the frame where the rail is at. Pics can help as well

Is the front strap of the grip checked or does it have finger grooves?

Does the front section have a acc. rail?

And does yours have finger grips and NO acc rail?

Yes the fingers have grooves. I "think" there are two pins above trigger if I'm looking at the right spot.

Also there's no accessory rail

Is it possible that it's a gen 3 even though it don't have the acc. Rail ?

Gen 3. The sub compacts don't have rails.

Depends on the model gun you have... The 26 has no rail.

Thank you very much
That's a later Gen 3. Made after 2007. The small square indentation on the bottom of the trigger guard wasn't on the frames before then. The first subs had smooth fingergrooves.

I'm busted, I didn't catch in the first post you said, G-26.
It's a Gen 3.

Is that also true for the 27's? My 27 is dent free under trigger guard

Do you have smooth finger grooves or checkered?

I'm betting smooth.

My 26 was brand new when I got it. It doesn't have that square indent, but I didn't get it until 2011. Could it have been made before 07, and took that long to sell? How do I find out the exact manufacturing date?

Did it come with the test cases? There is a date on that which is when the gun was test fired at the factory. Usually a close estimate on when it was built.
Not all frames have that mark. I never saw them before 2007 though, some have it some dont, both Austrian and American frames. I guess it's just slight differences in molds.

Look at the date on the envelope that has your fired cases in it. They shoot the guns the day, or within a day or so of when it was built.

If you don't have the envelope, post the letters in your serial and I'll see if I can find it.

If your serial number starts with a R or later, it's too new for me to look up and you can count on it having been built in the last two years or so.
