Went to a glock dealer in my town to buy my first handgun and I was really set on the 19. Love everything about it. Bought it at about noon today and just made it home to play with it, as I'm reading all of the manuals(that all say gen 4 stuff in them) I notice it doesn't have the gen 4 marking on it like all of the gen 4's do. Price was $559 and out the door came to $598. This is my first gun purchase so I hope I didn't just get taken advantage of.

I took a couple pictures of it so if you guys could tell me that would be greatly appreciated.

It does not say GEN4, all Gen4 have it stamped on the left side of the slide so it is most likely a Gen3. If it was sold to you as New , it better be. $598.00 would be about right here in Florida. BTW Welcome to the forum!! Enjoy.
That's a gen 3 model and yea you paid too much

$598 for a Gen 4, after taxes.

The Gen 3 is more like $498 plus taxes.

Thanks for the welcome dutchs, kind of a bad first post I guess :/ What would you guys recommend I do as far as taking it back? I mean he's a glock dealer and I was told this is a brand new gun and in fact it's not.
that is a gen 3 for sure. The Gen 4 also have removeable back straps on the grips; this one obviously does not. Sorry to hear about this. someone made a boo-boo.
It is brand new, it's just a Gen 3. Your test fire envelope will tell you when it was "made". Glock is still manufacturing Gen 3's.

Just because it is a Gen3 does not mean it is not brand new. If it has ever been sold before even if it was never shot it cannot be sold as Brand new.
It may be a new gun . Just because it is a gen3 doesn't mean its used. 598 seems a bit high for a new gen3.
I guess the question is what did your dealer say you where buying a Gen3 or a Gen4 what does your receipt say? If there is a discrepancy take it back, maybe honest mistake...
Ok so I guess I'm making a big deal when I shouldn't. As long as it is in fact brand new I'm ok with it not being a gen 4. Only reason I'm so adamant about is because I just recently bought a used 870 and was told it was only a year old, turns out it was an early 90's model. So other than overpaying a little bit I guess I'm ok.

This is my receipt, I didn't know about the whole gen 3 and 4 until after I came home and started researching. I was told it was brand new, but not what gen it was.

Guess my camera didn't focus in on that too good, it says "GLK Glock 19 9mm 4 inch barrel black finish fixed sights 15 round."
Gen 3's here in VA I can pick up for $480 $490 out the door.

Well I guess that settles it, I just checked the envelope and sure enough it has a good date on it.

Don't beat yourself up about this minor slip-up. I know first hand that if your a novice or haven't done the research, you can get taken advantage of! I bought a Ruger SR9,which is a great gun, on impulse and didn't know enough about it. After a few days, I realized it wasn't the gun for me. So, I sold it and bought a G26 Gen 4. The gun dealer didn't lie to you, but he wasn't completely honest either! He should've informed you about both Gen 3 and 4 so you would have a choice. You still got a great quality gun that is still new, but there are differences between the Gen's. I prefer the Gen 4. Also, that price was a little high, but as long as you're happy with the gun, that's all that counts! Welcome to your new addiction!!! Fire at will!!!
Out of curiosity what are they selling Gen 4's for?
