If you're ever having a "conversation" with someone anti-2a, and they talk about how if there were no guns, there'd be no gun crime. Well, this is one instance where you can refute that claim.

the PRC has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world.

Yet, you see that this hardened criminal used a gun to commit his crimes. If there is such tight gun control, where did he get his gun? He didn't get it from a law abiding citizen (a common argument among anti-2a folks).

Fact of the matter is, there will always be a black market for firearms. Besides, it's not the tool, it's the individual wielding the tool.

Gun crime statistic from the PRC should NEVER be quoted. State controlled media only releases/reports media that it wishes to be heard. Other news stories are squashed. Anything that makes the PRC's communist utopia seem anything less than heaven on earth won't get reported.

I speak from personal experience that criminals in China had easy access to guns, but rarely used them as the penalties for using a gun during a crime are extremely harsh. Your average citizen wouldn't know the first place to go to get a gun. And they really have no recourse for protection. Stabbings, slashings, beatings, etc. are all fairly common.
