Im just trying to decide which route makes more sense, the ar 12 gauge is definitely cooler to a degree but the shockwave is more practical. The shockwave is also the easier and quicker of the two to reload. Not to mention the mossberg in theory should be more reliable. To me im looking for a cqb shotgun as i dont have one, something that could be easily used for home defense as well if needed. I know the pump will run. I think the the ar style 12 gauge would be more enjoyable to shoot but the fuss of the magazine is what turns me off slightly

You can buy a mag fed shockwave.

Personally I think the mags are ridiculously heavy & bulky. My brothers VR80 is a pain in the rear to take down & clean, imho.

thats the same with the citadel, a lot to take a part. Pump shotguns are wayy easier to clean. How long have you had yours?

Yes, we always want more rounds, and that is the reason I mentioned the magazine tube extension. But my point is that in a HD situation one would probably need only a couple of rounds (and we’ll have more in the tube), but I don’t see the need for a magazine on a shotgun for faster reloads.

I have a 12ga 870 with a 18 inches barrel that I use for HD and hog hunting. It’s great for both of those purposes.
The 18 inches barrel makes a big difference in maneuverability. However, I think the Remington TAC-14 or Mossberg Shockwave, because of the shorter barrel and total length, would be better for HD or as a truck gun.

    590 shockwave is 5+1 of 2 & 3/4. The Remington is 4+1 I believe.

Now that I live in a gun friendly state again, I'll eventually put a stock on my shockwave. Just gotta do the paperwork, pay the fee and wait.

I don’t think that is a decision point as one can add magazine extensions to either shotgun. There are +2 all the way to +9 magazine extensions available. It can get crazy.
The standard capacity on either shotgun and perhaps a +2 extension should be good enough for HD.

i think im leaning towards the shockwave and may pick up a “brace” for it. From what i understand as long as the brace does not make the length of pull longer than 13.5” it is still a firearm not a shotgun. The overall length would still be over 26”

I wouldn’t put a brace on it. As Lucian mentioned before, it is a fine line between right and wrong. Plus I don’t think we gain much with a brace on it.

I did the brace thing and it was okay, but I took the brace off. You can do a search and find the post of my shockwave build. I think a 4 or 5 position buffer tube keeps it in legal range.
